Freiman was originally signed by San Diego scout Adam Bourassa¡graduated from Wellesley High School (MA) in 2005 where he was a two-way player¡was ranked by Perfect Game USA as the top High School prospect in Massachusetts in 2005¡attended Duke University from 2006-2009, where he played first base and catcher for the Blue Devils while graduating with a degree in history¡ is the only player in school history to receive the ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award (2009) ¡ his 43 career home runs at Duke are the most in school history, while his .616 career slugging percentage is also a school record ¡ his wife, Amanda, is a professional golfer and has played in 78 LPGA tournaments since 2006 ¡ while at Duke University, she was a three-time National Player of the Year and won the U.S. Women's Amateur title in 2008 ¡ participated in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers as a member of Team Israel¡hit .417 (5-for-12) with four home runs and seven RBI in three games from Sept. 19-23 ¡ Israel was eliminated by Spain, 9-6, in the Jupiter Pool Finals.

Spent most of the season at Triple-A Sacramento where he batted .284 with 15 home runs and 74 RBI in 80 games…also hit .218 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 36 games over three stints with Oakland…10 of his 19 hits with the A's were for extra bases (five doubles, five home runs)…his five homeruns topped his four in 80 games from his rookie season of 2013 and he slugged .448 compared to .389 in 2013…however, his batting average dropped off from .274 and he committed three errors in 33 games at first base (.986 elding percentage) compared to one in 59 games in 2013 (.997 elding percentage)… batted .224 (15-for-67) with all ve of his home runs and 13 of his 15 RBI against left-handed pitching compared to .200 (4-for-20) against right-handers…had nine of his 10 extra base hits against lefties andslugged .507 against lefties, .250 against righties…has hit all nine of his career home runs off lefties…has a .278 (60-for-216) career average and a .468 slugging percentage off lefties, .180 (11-for-61) with a.197 slugging percentage off righties…21 of his 24 starts in 2014 and 69 of 74 in his career have comeagainst southpaws…hit four of his five home runs on the road but batted just .184 away from Oakland…has a .198 (24-for-121) career average on the road compared to .301 (47-for-156) in Oakland…had a.170 batting average with one home run and three RBI against a pitcher the first time he faced him in a game, .275 with four home runs and 12 RBI after that…batted .281 with zero or one out, .043 with two outs…his career numbers are .306 with zero or one out, .143 with two outs…hit .389 with four home runs and eight RBI in six interleague games compared to .174 with one home run and seven RBI in 30 games against the American League…appeared exclusively at rst base on defense…went 2-for-7(.286) with a strikeout as a pinch hitter…started games in the fifth through eighth spot in the order…wasrecalled for the first time June 29 and went 7-for-33 (.212) with a home run and six RBI in 14 games, including eight starts at first base, during his rst stint…was optioned to Sacramento July 27 but returnedAug. 3 when Nick Punto went on the disabled list…went 6-for-21 (.286) with three home runs and sixRBI in eight games, including seven starts at first base, during his second stint…committed his first error of the season Aug. 15 at Atlanta, snapping a 61-game errorless streak dating back to his last error on May 9, 2013…it was the seventh longest errorless streak by a first baseman in Oakland history…homered inthat game and then had his rst career two-homer game Aug. 17 at Atlanta…was optioned to Class-A Beloit Aug. 27 but returned to Oakland Sept. 2 when the Snappers season ended…went 6-for-33 (.182)with a home run and three RBI in 14 games in September, including nine starts at first base.

Was claimed off waivers from Houston March 23 after being selected by the Astros in the Rule 5 draft from San Diego in Dec., 2012 … spent the entire season with the A's and batted .274 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 80 games in his Major League debut…was used mostly against left-handed pitching as he made 48 of his 50 starts against southpaws…batted .304 (45-for-148) with all 13 of his extra base hits, 22 of his 24 RBI and 11 of his 14 walks against left-handers…was just 7-for-42 (.167) against righthanded pitchers … hit .148 in 13 games in April, .315 over a 48-game stretch from May 1 to Aug. 15 and .222 over his final 19 games…had a .327 batting average with three of his four home runs and 17 of his 24 RBI in 44 games in Oakland compared to .205 in 36 games on the road…batted .310 with all four of his home runs and 16 of his 24 RBI in 35 games against the American League West, .245 in 45 games against everyone else…started 42 games at first base and committed just one error in 59 games overall at first for a .997 fielding percentage…also started eight games at designated hitter and hit .241 in 13 games overall as the DH…made the most pinch hitting appearances on the A's, going 4-for-21 (.190) with a double, three RBI and a hit by pitch … made his most starts batting fifth in the order (26), where he hit .310 in 31 games overall … started at least one game in every spot in the order from five through nine.
OAKLAND: Made his Major League debut with a start at first base April 3 against Seattle and had a RBI single off Joe Saunders in the second inning for his first ML hit and RBI…added another single in the fourth inning for his first multiple hit game … started against Brad Peacock April 5 at Houston and went 0-for-5 … it was one of just two starts that he made in a game started by a right-handed pitcher all year (also June 12 vs. New York-AL, Phil Hughes) … hit his first ML home run April 22 against Houston, a three-run shot off Erik Bedard in the first inning … hit three of his four home runs against Houston … finished April with a .148 batting average in 13 games but then hit .351 with three doubles, one home run and nine RBI in 14 games in May … was named American League Rookie of the Month for May…had his first career three-hit game May 3 at New York (AL)…his second came June 11 against the Yankees and the starting pitcher in both games was CC Sabathia…went 5-for-6 (.833) against Sabathia in 2013… went 14-for-38 (.368) with a home run and eight RBI over a 14-game stretch from May 26 to June 11 to lift his average to .284 … then went 7-for-34 (.206) over his final 13 games before the All-Star Break … had his first career "walk-off" hit June 13 against New York, a RBI single in the bottom of the 18th inning off Mariano Rivera for a 3-2 A's win … had a career-high 0-for-13 streak from July 4-13 … followed that by compiling a career-high five-game hitting streak from July 14-30 (6 for 17, .353)…went 4-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBI Aug. 15 against Houston, establishing career highs in hits and RBI…became the first A's rookie with four hits and four RBI in a game since Ben Grieve on June 26, 1998…the home run snapped a career-high 36-game homerless streak … homered again two games later Aug. 20 against Seattle … walked in the first inning Aug. 18 against Cleveland, his first walk since June 1 against Chicago (AL)…that snapped a streak of 33 consecutive games without a walk, which was the longest streak by an Athletic since Scott Brosius had a 36-game streak from Aug. 23, 1991-Aug. 25, 1992…finished August with a .346 batting average in 14 games…then hit .240 in 12 games in September…was not on the postseason roster for the ALDS against Detroit.
