2007 graduate of Malvern Preparatory School (PA)...Attended University of Virginia and in 2009 set a school record for hits in a season (100)… As a junior at UVA, was First-Team All-ACC and Third-Team All-America.

2021

In 104 games with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021, hit .261 (90-for-345) with seven home runs, 47 RBI and 40 runs scored...His 90 hits set a new career high, easily surpassing his previous best of 61...Also comfortably set new career highs in plate appearances (373), runs (40), doubles (14), home runs (seven), RBI (47), stolen bases (four), walks (24) and total bases (125).

2020

Played second straight season with Phillies...Made his fifth career Opening Day roster after entering year as NRI...His 13 hits (in 33 AB) as a designated hitter were most in a season by a DH in franchise history (previous: Jim Thome; 12 hits in 36 AB in 2012)…On July 25 vs Miami, recorded his first career multi-HR game, after having two total HR in previous 146 games... Became just second Phillie ever to record a multi-HR game as a DH, joining Ricky Ledee (6/11/04 at MIN)…Also tied career high with three hits that day...Slashed .313/.389/.479 in 54 plate appearances at Citizens Bank Park...Collected eight extra-base hits (5 2B, 3 HR) in 92 AB after having six XBH in 137 AB combined from 2017-19...Made starts at 1st base (7), 2nd base (2), 3rd base (1), in LF (4), RF (4) and as designated hitter (10).

2019

Was a non-roster invitee to ML spring training...Began season with Lehigh Valley (AAA)...Had two stints with the Phillies: 4/17-6/13 and 9/1-end of season...Named an Organization All-Star by MiLB.com...Ranked 6th in AVG (.313) and T-6th in hits (10) among all ML pinch-hitters...Batted .313 (10-32), 2B, 3 RBI, 2 BB as a pinch-hitter...Made 7 starts with the Phillies: 4 at SS and 3 in LF n At the time his contract was selected by the Phillies for the first time, was leading the International League in OBP (.538) and ranked 3rd in AVG (.419)...Made his Phillies debut on 4/19 at COL (2-4, R); entered the game at SS in the 4th inning.

2018

Made CIN's Opening Day roster after receiving a non-roster invite to ML spring training l Optioned to Louisville (AAA) on 4/26 l Claimed off waivers by ATL on 5/3 and assigned to Gwinnett (AAA) l Was on the DL with a left thumb sprain, 5/24-6/4 l Overall, played in 81 games for Gwinnett and appeared at every spot in the lineup except cleanup.

2017

Played for 4 teams in 2 organizations...made 40 apps for the Pirates & Rangers and 73 apps for their Class AAA affiliates in Indianapolis & Round Rock...on 2/10 was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Pirates...on 8/12 was claimed off waivers by the Rangers...made his 12 apps for the Rangers over 3 stints (8/19-8/20, 8/22-8/25, 9/5-end of season)...following the season became a free agent...on 12/21 was signed by the Reds to a minor league contract with an invitation to 2018 Major League spring training camp.

2016

Spent first full season in the Majors with Arizona...Led all big league players and set franchise records in pinch-hits (20) and pinch-hit appearances (83)...Went 20-for-77 (.260) with four walks and six RBI as a pinch hitter...Made 35 appearances (21 starts) at second base, 10 appearances (five starts) at third base, six appearances (four starts) at first base, two starts in left field and one appearance in right field (5/24 at Pittsburgh). ..Hit first home run (fifth career) on 4/17 at San Diego...Tied career high with three hits (fourth time) on 7/24 at Cincinnati...Connected off Milwaukee's Michael Blazek for first career pinch-hit home run on 8/7...Recorded his second career walkoff hit (single) on 10/2 vs. San Diego...Ended season with a 57-game errorless streak, dating back to 9/19/15.

2015

Combined to hit .311 (69-for-240) with 9 doubles, 3 home runs and 18 RBI in 44 games with Atlanta and Arizona…Acquired from Braves for RHP Bronson Arroyo and RHP Touki Toussaint on July 23…Played in 16 games (15 starts) at second base and 7 at third base (6 starts)…also played as a defensive replacement in left field once…On 60-day disabled list from May 18-Aug. 30 with a fractured left thumb…combined to hit .316 with 5 doubles, 2 home runs and 11 RBI in 14 rehab games with Rookie AZL D-backs, Single A Adv. Visalia and Triple-A Reno…Recorded first walk-off hit on Sept. 29 vs. Rockies, a pinch-hit single in 11th inning…Hit an inside-the-park home run on Oct. 1 vs. Rockies, the 10th D-back to accomplish the feat (sixth at Chase Field).

2014

For the second consecutive season, split time between the Major League club and the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves. Combined to hit .324 (164-for-506) with 33 doubles and 75 runs 142 games between to two levels...Appeared in 46 games over two stints for the Major League club, from 7/26 through the end of the season and batted .266 (34-for-128). Recalled 7/13 and optioned 7/17...Smacked his first career home run 8/15, a two-run, two-out shot off OAK's Jesse Chavez...Set a career high with three hits on two separate occassions, 8/31 vs. MIA and 9/17 vs. WSH...Collected his first career pinch-hit in 8/8's sixth inning vs. WSH...Reached base safely in 28 of his 30 starts via hit, walk or hit-by-pitch. Batted .284 (33-for-116) with four doubles and 16 runs scored in his starts...Defensively for Atlanta, made 17 starts at second base, eight at third base and five at shortstop...Had a career-year at GWI, as he finished with the second highest batting average in the International League with a .344 (130-for-378) mark and was named the Gwinnett Braves Player of the Year by the organization...Earned GWI's Most Valuable Player team award after leading the club in batting average and OPS (.866)...Selected to the International League All-Star team. Split the season almost equally between Mississippi (AA) and Gwinnett (AAA), playing in 59 games and 58 games, respectively. Also appeared in four games with the Major League club...Batted a combined .254 (108-for-425) with 14 doubles, a pair of triples, three home runs and 38 RBI in 117 games between the two minor league stops...Had his contract purchased on 8/16 vs. WSH and made his Major League debut as a defensive replacement that evening, tallying one putout and two assists on three total chances...Recorded his first Major League hit with an infield single in the second inning off WSH's Gio Gonzalez on 8/18. Collected two hits in the game, his only two hits with the Major League club...Opened the season with Mississippi, where he hit .243 (53-for-218) in 59 games before earning a promotion to Gwinnett (AAA) on 6/23...Garnered Gwinnett's Player of the Month award for August after batting .304 (28-for-92) with three doubles and five RBI in 25 games...Reached base safely via hit, walk or hit-by-pitch in 34 of 38 games from 4/16-6/9...Stroked a season-high four hits on 5/7, ending the night 4-for-6 with two doubles, three runs and two RBI.

Led Mississippi (AA) in games with 128 and plate appearances with 547...His 46 RBI were good for fourth on the team...55 runs put him third on the team.
