Is married.....wife’s name is Sara.....the couple has a daughter named Stella...Graduated from Agoura (CA) High School, where he was a rival of Christian Yelich, who played for Westlake High School...Attended the University of Southern California and played both pitcher and catcher...His younger brother, Richard, was a catcher selected by Milwaukee in the 45th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft (did not sign)....he went on to be selected by Cleveland in 2012 (23rd round) and played from 2012-14.

Robert appeared in 10 games with the Boston Red Sox, posting an 0-1 record and 4.73 ERA (7 ER13.1 IP) … he began the season with the Philadelphia Phillies before being claimed off waivers on July 27...Made his season debut on Aug. 11 vs. Tampa Bay, allowing one unearned run over 1.1 innings … walked three and struck out a season-high three...Tossed season-high 2.0 innings on Aug. 28 vs. Washington … equaled total on Sept. 16 at Miami and Sept. 19 vs. the Yankees...Limited left-handed hitters to a .217 average (5-for-23), while allowing a .407 (11-for-27) mark to right-handed hitters.

Made his first career Opening Day roster, appearing in 7 games with SD in March/April and 3 more in June/July...Earned his lone decision of the season with a win on 4/5 at STL...Spent the majority of the season with El Paso (AAA), both on option and on rehab assignment...Was on the 10-day IL with a right biceps strain, 7/3-end of season...Averaged 13.35 SO/9.0 IP in his 27 games with El Paso.

Split the season between San Antonio (AA) and El Paso (AAA) while making his ML debut with SD, recording 32 relief appearances for the Padres...Began the season with SA and went 1-0 with one save, a 2.00 ERA (2 ER, 9.0 IP) and a 15.0 SO/9 IP across eight relief outings... Split the season between Bradenton (A), GCL Pirates (R), and Altoona (AA), tossing a combined 16.1 innings over 12 games...Missed some time while on the seven-day DL from 7/17-23.

2014

Split the campaign between Palm Beach (A) and Peoria (A), posting a 2-3 record with a 4.12 ERA (29 ER, 63.1 IP) over 35 games with 43 SO against 21 BB...While with Palm Beach, owned a 1.54 ERA (2 ER, 11.2 IP) in five games at home while limiting opponents to a .214 batting average...he posted a 3.09 ERA (4 ER, 11.2) over six games on the road while holding opponents to a .158 clip.

2013

Split the season between Peoria (A) and Palm Beach (A) where he appeared in a combined 32 games while pitching to a 2-1 record and a 3.52 ERA (15 ER, 38.1 IP).

2012

Spent the entire season with Quad Cities (A) after converting from a catcher to a pitcher, where he recorded posted a 5-2 record with career highs in IP (71.0) and strikeouts (66)...Made his first start on 5/27 at Cedar Rapids, tossing 3.2 IP while allowing four earned runs on four hits and two walks...On 6/10, made his second start at Burlington where he worked 3.0 IP and allowed two earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking two...Missed time while on the seven-day DL from 8/15-24.

2011

Split the season between Palm Beach (A) and Quad Cities (A) as a catcher, starting in each of the 58 games he played in...Recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage over 42 games with Palm Beach...Threw out 11 of 15 baserunners (73%) while with Quad Cities...Started the season on the seven-day DL from 4/4-5/10.

2010

Played in 85 games at Quad Cities, starting 82 at catcher. ... Had 14 multi-hit games including two three-hit contests, tying his career-high for hits in a game. ... Hit 17 doubles, 3rd most among Cardinals minor league catchers. ... Hit safely in 18-of-20 August games, accounting for his best month batting .264 with a home run and 12 RBI. ... Ranked 7th among Midwest League catchers by throwing out 28.6% of attempted base stealers (40-140). ... Posted a .978 fielding percentage despite leading Midwest League catchers in errors (18). ...
