According to Statcast, Selman's permitted a 20.8% hard-hit rate, the second-lowest among qualified pitchers behind LAD's Kenley Jansen (14.0%)
2019
Signed by the Giants as a minor league free agent in March after SF discovered him in a data-driven baseball program in Washington called Driveline.... Added to the Giants' 40-man roster and was selected from Triple-A Sacramento on August 1, replacing OF Alex Dickerson (IL)...after waiting eight years, he made his big league debut that day at Philadelphia and pitched 1.0 inning, allowing a run (solo homer to Roman Quinn) on one hit with one strikeout.... Appeared in four games with the Giants before being optioned back to Triple-A on August 5...was recalled just three days later on August 8, replacing Shaun Anderson (blister, IL) on the roster...however, was on the roster for just one day before being optioned to Triple-A on August 9...called up third and final time September 6.... Prior to the call ups had gone 3-1 with a 1.15 ERA (6er, 47.0ip) along with 78 strikeouts and just 14 walks in 34 relief appearances between Triple-A Sacramento (30) and Double-A Richmond (four)...was holding PCL opponents to a .124 average against...was named a mid-season All-Star at Sacramento.
