29-year-old right-hander has spent parts of each of last 6 seasons in big leagues, including all of 2004 with Montreal in his lone full campaign in majors...though used in relief for most of his big league career, has had more success in the rotation, posting 4.77 ERA in 38 starts...in 2001, he became just 5th player and pitcher from South Korea to appear in Major League game...should he appear in game for Giants would become 1st player from South Korea in franchise history...pitched for Korea in inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006, helping club to semi-finals...at 18 years old, became youngest player ever to represent Korea in 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Attended Korea University...helped lead Korean Jr.National Team to 2 World Baseball Championships in 1994 and 1995...married (Su Youn, Dec 9, 2003)...son (Alexander, Jan.4, 2005).
2006
Opened season by pitching for Korea in World Baseball Classic...began regular season with Colorado and posted 19.80 ERA in 3 relief appearances before going on Disabled List on April 15-May 22 with bruised right shin...had 6-outing rehab assignment with triple-A Colorado Springs...made 3 more appearances for Rockies before being designated for assignment June 4...5 days later was outrighted to Colorado Springs...made 15 more starts for Sky Sox before being traded to Cincinnati Sept.5...started next day vs.SF in Reds debut and suffered 3-2 loss...made 1 other appearance, working in relief Sept.17 at Chicago.
2005
Opened year with Washington organization, appearing in 12 games at big league level before being acquired by Colorado in early August...was initially used out of bullpen after joining Rockies, but made 7 consecutive starts to end the year...combined to go 6-3 with 4.90 ERA (45er, 82.2ip) in 24 games (10 starts) for Washington and Colorado...was 4-1 with 4.28 mark (26er, 54.2ip) in 10 starts and 2-2 with 6.11 ERA (19er, 28.0ip) in 14 relief appearances...established career high in wins (6), while posting 2nd-most starts (10) and innings (82.2) in Major League career...pitched 1st career complete game shutout Sept.24 vs.San Francisco, just 13th blanking ever by individual pitcher at Coors Field...became just 6th Rockies pitcher with CG shutout at Coors Field...Kim became 1st Rockies pitcher to throw complete game shutout either at home or on road since John Thomson Sept.30, 2001 vs.Milwaukee...Rockies played Major League record 645 games without complete game shutout...with Colorado, went 5-1 with 4.22 ERA (25er, 53.1ip)...won each of 1st 5 decisions with Rockies...began year with triple-A New Orleans in Washington chain, going 4-2 with 2.76 ERA in 9 starts...contract was purchased by Washington May 26...was claimed by Colorado Aug.5 and added to 25-man roster Aug.7 when Dan Miceli was placed on Disabled List...made Rockies debut in spot start in 1st game of doubleheader Aug.8 vs.Florida...joined Byung-Hyun Kim as starters in that doubleheader, marking 1st time that 2 pitchers with same last name started both ends of doubleheader since Perry brothers, Gaylord and Jim, started each end of doubleheader for Cleveland June 22, 1974 at Boston.
2004
Spent entire season with Montreal, 1st full campaign in majors...went 4-6 with 4.58 ERA in 43 games (17 starts) for Expos, establishing career highs in nearly every category, including games, starts, innings (135.2), and strikeouts (87)...ranked among team leaders in innings (2nd), starts (4th), and strikeouts (4th)...went 3-6 with 4.75 mark (45er, 85.1ip) in 17 starts and 1-0, 4.29 ERA (24er, 50.1ip) in 26 relief appearances.
2003
Had 2 stints with Expos, but spent most of year with triple-A Edmonton...was recalled May 31 when Zach Day was placed on Disabled List...made 1 start before returning to Edmonton June 5...recalled again June 20, was optioned to triple-A July 10...appeared in 4 games with 3 starts for Expos.
2002
Pitched for 4 different teams after being traded from Boston to Montreal...began year with triple-A Pawtucket, but did not make appearance before being recalled by Boston...spent nearly all of April and May with Red Sox before being optioned June 2...recorded 1st ML win in relief May 4 at Tampa Bay...had another stint with Red Sox June 28-July 10, combining to go 2-0 with 7.45 ERA in 15 games (2 starts) for Boston...earned 1st ML win as starter July 2 vs.Toronto...was acquired by Montreal in Cliff Floyd trade July 30...went 3-0 with 1.24 ERA in 7 starts for triple-A Ottawa and was September call-up for Expos...logged 1-0 ledger with 0.89 ERA in 4 games (3 starts) for Montreal in Sept...recorded 1st ML hit Sept.17 at Florida, single to left-center off Julian Tavarez in 2nd inning.
2001
Split season between Pawtucket and Boston, logging 4 stints with Red Sox in his 1st Major League action...initially recalled by Boston June 14 and made big league debut June 15 at Atlanta, tossing 1.0 relief inning in 9-5 win...was optioned to Pawtucket June 21, but came back with Red Sox June 27...went back to minors July 22 and recalled again Aug.15...was optioned Aug.26 to make room for Pedro Martinez...was recalled again Sept.4...overall, went 0-2 with 5.83 ERA in 20 games (2 starts) with Boston...made his first career start in 7-2 loss Sept.29 at Detroit.

Led Pawtucket pitching staff in wins (11), games started (25), innings pitched (134.1) and strikeouts (116)...ranked 9th among triple- A pitchers in wins and 10th in strikeouts per 9 innings (7.77).
1999
Led double-A Trenton with 26 starts and 130 strikeouts, going 9-8 with 4.89 ERA...helped lead Mesa to Arizona Fall League championship with 5-1 record and 2.27 ERA, allowing only 19 hits and 7 walks in 31.2 innings.
1998
Pitched for single-A Sarasota in Florida State League...tied for league lead with 5 complete games and tied for 4th with 12 wins...pitched in Florida Instructional League.
