Comes from a family with deep athletic roots...His mother, Liana Vicéns, competed at age 11 in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City as a swimmer and is the youngest known competitor in the history of the Olympic Games...His uncle, Miguel Nido, played tennis at Clemson and competed at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona...His great uncle Juan "Pachín" Vicéns was a basketball player who played for Kansas State and Leones de Ponce...The Auditorio Juan Pachín Vicéns is named after him, an auditorium located in his home city of Ponce...His cousin Chris Nido played golf at the University of Florida and recently turned pro...Played baseball with Francisco Lindor as a kid in Puerto Rico... Played for Los Panteras, a youth team, before Lindor moved to the U.S...Enjoys playing golf and is an avid watch collector...He and his wife, Danielle, had a baby girl named Eleni Rayne during the 2020-2021 offseason...Welcomed a second daughter named Noa Enrique this offseason on Jan. 11, 2023...His family calls him Kiké, a shortened version of his middle name (Enrique).

2023

Appeared in 22 games for the Mets before being designated for assignment on June 5...Outrighted to Triple-A four days later and spent the rest of the season at Syracuse.

2022

Was a finalist for the Gold Glove Award...Caught a career-high 96 games, including 86 starts... Set career-high marks in games played, hits (68), doubles (15), RBI (28), runs (31) and walks (14)... His seven-game hitting streak from Sept. 7-19 was tied for the longest of his career (also, June 19- July 21, 2021)... Batted .333/.340/.608 in September with nine RBI and nine runs scored in 15 games...Hit three home runs in the month... Had a career-high four hits and three RBI on June 1 vs. Washington.

POSTSEASON: Went 1-8 in the NL Wild Card Series vs. San Diego, starting all three games behind the plate.

2021

Spent time on the IL in four separate stints, including three as he battled a sprained left thumb in the second half...Despite missing time, still set or tied career-high marks in games played (58), runs scored (16), hits (34), doubles (five) and extra-base hits (nine)...Hit all three of his home runs and tallied 11 of his 13 RBI in May...Was on a seven-game hitting streak (.381, 7-16) from June 19-July 21, the longest of his career...Was 3-5 with a walk and two RBI in six pinch-hit PA...Threw out 12 of 21 stolen base attempts (57.1%)...Had a career-high three hits and tied a career-best with two runs scored on May 17 at Atlanta.

2020

Placed on the Injured List, Aug. 25, after testing positive for COVID-19...Missed the rest of the season...Hit safely in each of his first six starts this season...That six-game hitting streak was the longest of his career...Hit a go-ahead, two-run homer and his first career grand slam, the Mets' first slam of the year, en route to collecting a career-high six RBI on Aug. 13 vs. Washington...Was his first career multi-homer game and his first career homers with runners on base...Was the sixth catcher in club history with a six-RBI game...He was the third Mets hitter to record at least six RBI in a game while batting eighth.

2019

Set career-high marks in games played (50), hits (26), doubles (5), home runs (4), and RBI (14)...Lined a go-ahead, three-run double in the Mets' 6-5 victory vs. Philadelphia on July 6... Batted .381 (8-21) with a home run and four RBI on first pitches... Reached base safely in seven-straight games from May 25-June 11...Batted .304 (7-23) with a home run and two RBI in that span... Batted .289 (11-38) in 12 games with Syracuse (AAA).

2018

Appeared in 34 games, including 24 starts, behind the plate in three stints with the Mets...Belted his first-career home run, September 13, in the second game of a doubleheader vs. Miami (off Jeff Brigham)...Lined a three-run double on September 8 vs. Philadelphia...His three RBI in that game were a career-high...Reached base in five-consecutive games between September 1-13...Tallied five RBI during that stretch...Served as the backstop for 11 of Noah Syndergaard's 25 starts...Syndergaard posted a 1.97 ERA (16 earned runs/73.0 innings) in those games...Batted .272 (63-232) with 20 doubles, a triple, five homers and 31 RBI in 64 games between Binghamton (AA) and Las Vegas (AAA)...From June 27-August 21 with Binghamton, batted .316 (43-136) with 12 doubles, a triple, five home runs and 21 RBI.

Was recalled from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League on September 12...Made his major league debut as a pinch-hitter on September 13 at the Cubs...Registered his first major league hit and RBI on September 14 at the Cubs as a pinch-hitter...Behind the plate at Binghamton, Nido threw out 45.1% of potential basestealers (23-51)...Was an Eastern League mid-season All-Star and started the E.L. Note Nido actually hit .320 (110-344) but his average was recalculated at the end of the season to qualify him for the batting title by adding eight extra at-bats...Won the Sterling Award for St. Lucie, emblematic of the most valuable player on his team...Named a mid-season and post-season Florida State League All-Star...Was also tabbed a High Class-A All-Star by Baseball America...Hit .361 (26-72) vs lefthanded pitching and .309 (84-272) with 16 doubles, two triples and all seven of his home runs vs. righthanded pitching...Batted .299 (29-97) with runners in scoring position...Had a pair of seven game hitting streaks during the season (May 5-15 and July 22-August 1)...Played in both of St. Lucie's playoff games vs. Bradenton...Went 2-8 with one RBI.
