Began season in Miami's rotation, making Major League debut on April 2 vs. Boston...Spent majority of season with Miami, posting a 4-9 record and 4.42 ERA (126.1 ip/62 er). Also made six starts at Triple-A New Orleans, going 3-2 with a 2.06 ERA (39.1/9)...Tossed 7.0 shutout innings on April 14 vs. Pittsburgh, throwing just 82 pitches and giving up just two hits and a walk...In that start, was first Marlins' rookie starter to work at least 7.0 innings and allow two-or-fewer hits since Justin Nicolino on September 26, 2015 vs. Atlanta (7.0 ip, 2 h). Became just the 15th pitcher in Club history to do so (22nd time) ..On April 25 against the Dodgers in Chavez Ravine, struck out 10 in just 4.2 innings. Became just the sixth rookie pitcher since 1913 to record as many as 10 strikeouts in less than 5.0 innings pitched, and first since Jon Gray on Sept. 23, 2016 (10 in 4.0 IP).
