Made 23 starts coming off a runner-up ROTY season, amid two separate IL stints, including a season-ending lat strain...Allowed 14 home runs and a .274 batting avg. against in 107.0 innings... Recorded his 200th career strikeout against the first batter he faced April 16. This made him the first left-hander in MLB history to strikeout 200 hitters in his first 34 games (all coming as starts) while maintaining a career ERA under 3.25. He was just the 12th pitcher to accomplish this feat (all 11 others were right-handed)¡Took a career-high four consecutive losses from July 6-25...Made four starts after returning from injury Aug. 31. Finished 2nd in 2021 NL Rookie of the Year voting after going 7-8 with a 2.64 ERA in 24 starts. Struck out 157 in 133.0 innings... Rogers produced one of the best rookie seasons of all time. Since the mound was lowered in 1969, there have been only six other rookie pitchers to match Rogers¡¯ total in wins (7) and strikeouts (157), while recording as low an ERA (2.64): Jose Fernandez (2013), Hideo Nomo (1995), Mark Eichhorn (1986), Dwight Gooden (1984), Fernando Valenzuela (1981) and Jon Matlack (1972). All but Eichorn went on to win Rookie of the Year in their respective leagues in those seasons... Among Marlins rookies, his strikeout total trailed only Scott Olson (166) and Jose Fernandez (187), while his ERA is 2nd only to Fernandez¡¯s 2.19 mark during his 2013 rookie campaign... Break-out sophomore season in the Minors in 2019, posting a 6-10 record with a 2.90 ERA (136.1 IP/44 ER) and 150 strikeouts over 23 starts at Single-A Jupiter (18 starts) and Double-A Jacksonville (5). Walked just 33 batters, and allowed 10 home runs...Opened the season at Jupiter and went 5-8 with a 2.53 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 110.1 innings, with 24 walks. Performance earned him Midseason and Postseason All-Star honors in the Florida State League...Ranked second in the FSL in strikeouts for the season; did not qualify for the ERA title, but would have ranked third. His 1.10 WHIP would have tied for third...Struck out 10-or-more batters in four starts; had one such start in 2018, when he struck out a career-best 12 on July 28 vs. Hickory...He was promoted to Jacksonville on Aug. 3. At the time of promotion, led the FSL in strikeouts , average against (.232), and WHIP, and ranked second in innings and ERA...Made five starts with the Jumbo Shrimp to end the season and went 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA (26.0/13)¡On Aug. 17 at Tennessee, allowed two hits, with 10 strikeouts, over 7.0 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory.
