He and his wife Tonya have one daughter, Gracie¡graduated from Bellevue East High School (NE)¡attended University of Nebraska at Omaha (2006-07) where he was a two-time All-North Central Conference honoree and was twice named NCC Most Valuable Pitcher¡earned Third-Team All-America honors and First-Team All-region recognition in final season at UNO.
2017
Began campaign with Somerset Patriots in Independent Atlantic League, making three starts with no record and 1.50 ERA (12.0 ip/2 er)... Had contract purchased by Seattle on May 12 and went on to post a 1-1 record with one save and 5.67 ERA (60.1 ip/38 er) in 19 games (14 starts) with Triple-A Tacoma... Over first eight appearances with Rainiers, which included seven starts, went 1-1 with 1.93 ERA (28.0/6). Over final 11 games, had no record and one save with 9.19 ERA (32.1/33)... Made season debut at Tacoma in second game of May 13 doubleheader against Round Rock. Started and tossed 3.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts... Followed debut start with a 4.0-inning scoreless effort on May 18 at Round Rock, allowing just two hits while walking none and striking out three... Earned first win of season in next outing, May 23 vs. Fresno, giving up just three hits with a season-high four strikeouts over 5.0 scoreless frames... Had contract selected by Mariners on June 2 and made first Major League appearance since 2013 on June 9 vs. Toronto. Earned win after tossing scoreless seventh inning. Marked first MLB win since May 31, 2013 at Miami... Optioned back to Tacoma on June 10 and was designated for assignment on June 21... Made two appearances for Rainiers following return from Seattle before going on seven-day disabled list with a flexor strain in right forearm on June 23. Had one rehab start with Single-A Everett (1.0 ip, 1 h) prior to being reinstated on July 9... Earned first professional save on July 29 at Oklahoma City after tossing 3.0 innings

Began 2016 campaign at Triple-A level in Yankees organization, appearing in four games before sustaining elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery.

Spent 2015 season with Samsung Lions of Korean Baseball Organization, going 11-11 with a 5.19 ERA (159.2/92) in 28 starts.

Went 10-8 with 3.89 ERA (166.2/72) in 27 games (26 starts) for Triple-A Columbus in Indians organization in 2014.
2013
Spent four different stints with the the Philadelphia Phillies (5/9-10, 5/21-6/13, 8/19-25 & 9/2-season's end) after beginning the year at AAA Lehigh Valley...Tossed back-to-back complete games, August 8-14, for Lehigh Valley, becoming the first pitcher in team history to do so (17.0IP, 9H, 4R/ER, 11K)...Threw 5.0 scoreless innings as an emergency reliever in the Phillies' 18.0-inning loss, August 24 vs Arizona, his 1st career relief appearance...His ERA over his first 6 starts with Philly was 3.41 (34.1IP, 37H, 13ER)...ERA was 10.73 over his last 7 outings (5GS, 26.0IP, 46H, 31ER)...From July 9- August 14 was 4-1 w/a 1.34 ERA (7 ER, 47.0 IP) over a 7-start stretch for Lehigh Valley... Claimed off waivers the day the Indians played in the AL Wildcard game and was designated (David Murphy) on November 25th, later released and re-signed to a minor league deal with a non-roster invite to spring training.
