Graduated from Rockwall-Heath HS in Rockwall, Texas in 2015...went 10-1 with a 0.27 ERA as a senior, setting a school record for ERA while being named to the Perfect Game All-American First Team...Attended Texas A&M University in 2016, going 2-3 with a 3.56 ERA (17ER/43IP) and 48 strikeouts in 11 games (10 starts) for the Aggies...began his A&M career with 16.1 scoreless innings...Transferred to Grayson College in Denison, Texas for his sophomore season in 2017 and went 9-0 with a 2.08 ERA (18ER/78IP) and 122 strikeouts in 78.0 innings pitched...was tabbed by Baseball America as the No. 5 Junior College prospect in the nation...Following his sophomore season, was drafted by Houston in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft...signed by Astros scout Jim Stevenson...Added to the Astros 40-man roster on Nov. 20, 2020...the 2022 season is his second at Major League Spring Training camp.

2021

After not appearing in an official game in 2020, picked up his first Triple-A and MLB action in 2021...Was a 40-man player at Spring Training and impressed, making three appearances, posting 1.80 ERA (1ER/5IP) with six strikeouts...optioned to minor league camp on March 16 and began the year at Triple-A Sugar Land...Spent the first month of the season traveling with the Astros as a member of the Taxi Squad...was with the Astros in three of their first four road trips...also made two Triple-A appearances, going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA (6ER/11IP)...Recalled for his first MLB action on May 21 at TEX...started and tossed 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on six hits...fanned David Dahl for his first MLB strikeout...optioned to Triple-A following the game...Was sidelined with right elbow soreness and didn’t pitch again until September...spent 63 days on the 60-day IL from Aug. 2-Nov. 7...Returned in September to make a start with the GCL Astros and two at Triple-A Sugar Land.

2020

Did not appear in any game action in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season.

2019

Had a dominant 2019 season spent mostly at Double A Corpus Christi...went 4-0 with a 1.57 ERA (8ER/46IP) and 61 strikeouts in 11 games (8 starts) with the Hooks...Suffered an undisclosed injury during the middle of his 2019 season...had gone 3-0 with a 0.72 ERA (2ER/25IP) at Double A prior to the injury...made three rehab appearances with the Rookie Level GCL Astros and Class A Advanced Fayetteville Woodpeckers from July 2-18 before ending his year back at Corpus Christi.

2018

Had a breakout 2018 campaign in which he went 4-6 with a 2.97 ERA (37ER/112IP), 29 walks and 135 strikeouts between Class A Advanced Buies Creek (15g) and Class A Quad Cities (9g)...Struck out a career-high 13 batters on 96 pitches over 7.0 innings on July 20, 2018 in an outing for the Buies Creek Astros.

2017

Began his pro career with Houston in 2017, appearing in 11 games for Class A Short Season Tri-City (0-3, 5.94 ERA) and one game for the Rookie Level GCL Astros (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
