Wesley Ray Helms...he and his wife, Meredith, have two sons, Wes Jr. and Waylon, and one daughter, Stella...is 1994 graduate of Ashbrook High School (NC), where he played baseball and basketball...was 1993 and 1994 North Carolina State Player of the Year...enrolled in a kickboxing course following the 1995 season to improve his conditioning...is the nephew of former MLB player Tommy Helms.

2011

He had seven hits in 33 at-bats (.212) with four RBI as a pinch hitter, including three doubles and five walks...As a pinch hitter he is the Marlins Franchise leader in hits (56), doubles (13), triples (4) and RBI (38), and is tied with Cody Ross for the lead with four home runs...He made the first two appearances of his career at second base this season. The first came on July 20 against San Diego, in his 1,201st career game. The second was on August 4, as a defensive replacement for Omar Infante in the sixth...He was released by the Club on August 13.
