Major League Baseball today announced the 2025 slate of free one-day MLB Umpire Camps that will be held across the country this season. The MLB Umpire Camps, which serve as the main pathway for candidates to pursue professional umpiring careers, are celebrating their 20th year of placing umpires into professional baseball. Select MLB Umpire Camp attendees will be invited to attend MLB¡¯s Umpire Prospect Development Camp, a four-week experience at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida to be held in January 2026 that serves as a gateway into umpiring careers through Minor League Baseball and into Major League Baseball.
The 2025 dates and locations are:
- April 26th ¨C Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Scottsdale, Arizona
- May 17th ¨C The Texas Rangers Youth Academy, Dallas, Texas
- June 28th ¨C Dunkin¡¯ Park, Hartford, Connecticut
- July 20th ¨C American Family Field, Home of the Milwaukee Brewers
- August 23rd ¨C The Ballpark at America First Square, Salt Lake City, Utah
These camps represent a main component of the umpire development model instituted by Major League Baseball in 2023. The approach has transformed the training of potential umpires by providing quality and consistent training at no cost to participants, with the long-term goals of expanding and diversifying the pool of interested candidates. The system expedites the road to the Major Leagues for the most outstanding performers and is aimed at making umpiring a more feasible career option.
MLB Umpire Camps date back to 2006, when they began at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton, California. Current Major League Umpires Adam Beck, Nestor Ceja, Ramon De Jesus, Malachi Moore, Edwin Moscoso and Carlos Torres all attended MLB Umpire Camps prior to reaching the Major Leagues.
