Additional Yankees non-roster invitee
The New York Yankees announced today that they have invited LHP Rob Zastryzny to 2025 Major League spring training.
Zastryzny, 32, has spent parts of six Major League seasons with the Chicago Cubs (2016-18), New York Mets (2022), Los Angeles Angels (2022), Pittsburgh Pirates (2023) and Milwaukee Brewers (2024), going 4-0 with a 4.30 ERA (67.0IP, 68H, 39R/32ER, 31BB, 54K, 3HR) in 54 career appearances (five starts). The left-handed pitcher made nine appearances (three starts) with Milwaukee in 2024, going 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA (7.2IP, 4H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 5K, 0HR). He spent the majority of last season with Triple-A Nashville, going 4-0 with two saves and a 3.03 ERA (29.2IP, 20H, 10R/ER, 11BB, 39K, 3HR) in 30 relief appearances. The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, native was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the second round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Missouri. He was then signed to a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 26, 2019. Additionally, he signed as a minor league free agent with the Baltimore Orioles on November 20, 2019, and then was signed to a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins on May 5, 2021. He then signed with New York-NL as a minor league free agent on November 29, 2021. Additionally, he was claimed off waivers by Los Angeles-AL on August 25, 2022, before signing with Pittsburgh as a minor league free agent on December 7, 2022. Zastryzny also signed with Milwaukee as a minor league free agent on December 12, 2023, and was then claimed off waivers by Chicago-NL on November 4, 2024. Additionally, he was then signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent on February 16, 2025.
