Angels sign Travis dĄŻArnaud
ANAHEIM ¨C The Angels today agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with C Travis dĄŻArnaud. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, RHP Guillo Zu?iga has been designated for assignment.
dĄŻArnaud, 35, completed his 12th big league season in 2024 and fifth with Atlanta, batting .238 (73/307) with 40 runs scored, 16 doubles, 15 home runs and 48 RBI in 99 games played. His 15 home runs tied for fifth among National League catchers. dĄŻArnaud caught 706.2 innings behind the plate across 89 catching appearances, and threw out 19.1% of runners attempting to steal. In the Postseason, dĄŻArnaud appeared in both of AtlantaĄŻs Wild Card Series games against San Diego and went 1-for-5 with a double.
A native of Long Beach, CA, dĄŻArnaud was originally selected by Philadelphia in the first round (37th overall) of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Lakewood HS (Lakewood, CA). He made his Major League debut with the New York Mets on Aug. 17, 2013 and has gone on to win a Silver Slugger Award in 2020 and was a National League All-Star in 2022. A veteran of 57 Postseason games, dĄŻArnaud was a member of the Braves 2021 World Series Championship team. In 884 career regular season games (797 as a catcher), he has compiled a .248 (753/3032) career average with 157 doubles, 123 home runs and 438 RBI across 12 seasons with the Mets (2013-19), Dodgers (2019), Rays (2019) and Braves (2020-24).
