Dodgers activate Anthony Banda
LOS ANGELES ¨C The Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda from the injured list and placed right-handed pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. on the injured list with a cracked right middle fingernail.
Banda, 31, has been out since September 10 with a left-hand fracture. He has made 46 appearances for the Dodgers this season, going 2-2 with a 3.23 ERA. He has struck out 50 batters in 47.1 innings while limiting hitters to a .247 batting average against. He was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians on May 17 in exchange for cash considerations. In eight Major League seasons with Arizona (2017), Tampa Bay (2018-20), New York-NL (2021), Pittsburgh (2021-22), Toronto (2022), New York-AL (2022), Washington (2023) and Los Angeles-NL (2024) and he is a combined 9-8 with a 4.99 ERA in 136 games (seven starts). He was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 10th round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of San Jacinto College.
Honeywell, 29, heads to the injured list for the first time this season. He has appeared in 18 games for the Dodgers this season,allowing 10 runs in 34.1 innings with 17 strikeouts. He was acquired by the Dodgers on July 13 as a waiver claim from the Pittsburgh Pirates after going 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA in two games. The Augusta, Georgia native owns a 3-5 Major League record across 63 games (three starts) with a 4.10 ERA (43 ER/94.1 IP) and 67 strikeouts against 37 walks. He made his Major League debut on April 11, 2021 with the Tampa Bay Rays, who drafted the righty out of Walter State Community College in 2014.
