LOS ANGELES (March 7, 2025) ¨C As part of the recovery and scheduled May reopening of Loma Alta Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF), in partnership with the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation (LA County Parks), will develop two new Dodgers Dreamfields in Altadena. The park¡¯s restoration plans were announced on March 5 by County of Los Angeles Supervisor Kathryn L. Barger.
Before the Eaton Fire disrupted the lives of children and families, Altadena parks served as anchors for tight-knit, diverse communities, providing programs and recreation for all stages of life. The reimagining of Loma Alta Park will be a beacon of hope, offering multi-generational programming and essential services for families returning to Altadena. It will also serve as a gathering place for neighbors temporarily relocated across Los Angeles County and beyond.
¡°We are proud to partner in the reimagining of Loma Alta Park by bringing two new Dodgers Dreamfields to Altadena,¡± said Nichol Whiteman, CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. ¡°These fields will stand as a testament to the community¡¯s resilience, providing a safe space for youth and their families as they continue to heal from the impacts of the Eaton Fire.¡±
As part of its commitment to helping restore Loma Alta Park, LADF is rallying Dodger fans and partners to support this effort. Proceeds from its Opening Day and Ring Ceremony Day 50/50 raffles at Dodger Stadium will go toward the development of these new fields and ongoing relief efforts, uniting the community in support of this vital initiative.
LADF builds and refurbishes baseball and softball fields through the Dodgers Dreamfields program, providing families with safe havens and points of pride in their neighborhoods. Dodgers Dreamfields revitalize green spaces to help re-energize the community¡¯s involvement in baseball and softball while boosting the safety of local parks and providing a place where neighbors can gather, exercise, and play. Since 2003, LADF has invested over $20 million to refurbish 65 Dodgers Dreamfields and provide more than 400,000 kids access to playable baseball and softball fields.
¡°We are incredibly grateful to partner with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation to bring youth baseball and softball programming to Loma Alta Park through Dodgers Dreamfields, as part of the Eaton Fire recovery efforts in Altadena,¡± said Norma E. Garc¨ªa-Gonz¨¢lez, Director of the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. ¡°Parks are essential to building healthier, happier, and more connected communities, and Loma Alta Park is truly the heartbeat of this neighborhood. With Loma Alta Park being the first park in Altadena to reopen, having access to these upgraded fields will create invaluable opportunities for local youth. We¡¯re also pleased that the Dodgers Foundation is partnering with us to refurbish the ball fields, ensuring the Central Altadena Little League can play their final games in Altadena and expanding recreational opportunities for the entire community.¡±
LADF and the Los Angeles Dodgers stand alongside Angelenos during these difficult times. The organization is committed to supporting relief efforts for the families and communities affected by the recent fires while also extending support and gratitude to the heroic first responders serving on the front lines of these devastating events.
