SAN ANTONIO ¨C Milwaukee Brewers Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold, whose Club earned its second consecutive National League Central title this season, has been named the recipient of MLB¡¯s 2024 Executive of the Year Presented by Sage, MLB announced during the annual General Managers Meetings. The official Award resulted from voting among the 30 Clubs, each of which cast a vote prior to the start of the Postseason. The runner-up for the 2024 honor was Kansas City Royals Executive Vice President and General Manager J.J. Picollo, while Chris Antonetti, President of Baseball Operations for the Cleveland Guardians, finished third.

Arnold just completed his ninth season with the Brewers, including his fourth as General Manager and his second directing the Club¡¯s baseball operations. He first joined the Brewers as Vice President and Assistant GM in October 2015 following nine seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays. Arnold also has worked for the Dodgers, the Texas Rangers and the Cincinnati Reds during his 23-year career in professional baseball. The California native graduated from the University of California-Santa Barbara with a degree in economics in 2001.

In 2024, the Brewers posted a 93-69 record, tied for MLB¡¯s fourth-best mark overall. Milwaukee reached the Postseason for the sixth time in the last seven years and for the 10^th time in franchise history. The Brewers spent every day in first place beginning April 30^th and clinched the NL Central championship on September 18^th, ultimately winning their division by 10.0 games. Milwaukee is one of five teams to qualify for the Postseason in at least six of the last seven seasons, a list that includes the Houston Astros, the Atlanta Braves, and the Los Angeles Dodgers (seven times each) as well as the New York Yankees (six times). The Brewers, the Astros and the Dodgers are the only Major League teams with 86 or more wins in each of the last seven full seasons (2017-24, excluding the COVID-impacted 2020 season).

Prior to the 2024 season under new manager Pat Murphy, Milwaukee added homegrown rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio, free agent first baseman Rhys Hoskins, pitchers Jared Koenig and Bryan Hudson, and rookie infielder Joey Ortiz to a roster that included Willy Adames, William Contreras, Freddy Peralta, Devin Williams and Christian Yelich. Second-year second baseman Brice Turang, a 2018 Brewers¡¯ first round pick, stole 50 bases. Milwaukee¡¯s bullpen remained a strength, posting a 51-28 record and an NL-best 3.11 ERA with 638 strikeouts in 652.0 innings.

MLB began its official Executive of the Year Award at the conclusion of the 2018 season, with Billy Beane of the Oakland Athletics earning the inaugural honors, followed by Erik Neander of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019; Andrew Friedman of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020; Farhan Zaidi of the San Francisco Giants in 2021; Chris Antonetti of the Cleveland Guardians in 2022; and Mike Elias of the Baltimore Orioles in 2023.
