FLUSHING, N.Y., April 17, 2025 ¨C The New York Mets will host their annual Black Legacy Game presented by Nike at Citi Field on Thursday, April 17 when they take on the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:10 p.m. In honor of Jackie Robinson Day, the Black Legacy Game celebrates the history of Black Mets players, while also paying tribute to significant historical figures.
The Mets will host a pre-game party on the Mets Plaza beginning at 5:00 p.m., featuring DJ Herb.
Kwame Onwuachi, a James Beard Award-winning chef, and author of the critically acclaimed cookbook My America and memoir Notes from a Young Black Chef, will throw out the first pitch to Mets Hall of Famer Darryl Strawberry. Chef Onwuachi is the owner and chef of Tatiana in New York City, whose newest concept, Patty Palace, is now available within the Hudson Whiskey Club and Clover Home Plate Club at Citi Field.
The National Anthem will be performed by gospel recording artist, songwriter, musician, and vocal teacher Valerie Boyd, and Lift Every Voice and Sing will be performed by Sharifa Lubin, Juanita Guinyard and Lenny VanCooten. Grammy nominated, BET and Soul Train Award winning recording artist and producer DJ Webstar will be the night¡¯s DJ, performing pre-game and in-game sets in the ballpark.
The Jackie Robinson Museum will be hosting in-game activities for fans, including a scavenger hunt for the chance to win special prizes. Visit the tables located in the Jackie Robinson Rotunda open until 7:40 p.m., or on the Field Level concourse behind section 143 near the Shea Bridge open until the end of the sixth inning to learn more.
