The Pirates Charities Family Walk, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, will take place on Saturday, May 24 at PNC Park. The event will benefit Pirates Charities and Allegheny Health Network¡¯s mental health programming and initiatives. Fans of all ages can register for the event now at pirates.com/familywalk.
Pirates players, coaches and mascots will be on hand to interact with those in attendance for this unique experience. All participants are invited to stay to enjoy a post-walk carnival on the Highmark Riverwalk,
including family-friendly activities and mental health resources.
The walk is part of several Pirates and Pirates Charities mental health efforts to provide behavioral health resources to the Pittsburgh community and reduce the overall stigma surrounding mental health.
The fan-favorite event will allow participants to take a leisurely, non-competitive stroll through the best ballpark in America. Fans will take in unparalleled views of the Pittsburgh skyline before finishing the approximately two-mile course on the field at home plate. The Pirates Charities Family Walk was designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind and will be fully ADA accessible.
All registrants will receive a voucher for two free tickets, redeemable for select Pirates home games between May 1 through June 30. In addition, the first 1,000 registrants will receive a commemorative event t-shirt.
A $5 per-registrant discount will be given to groups of four or more when registering together, while kids in strollers are free. Fans registering before May 1 will receive special early bird pricing. On the day of the event, free parking will be available for Family Walk participants in Red Lot 5A and Gold Lot 1 on the North Shore from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
In addition to the presenting sponsor Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, other Pirates Charities Family Walk sponsors include Giant Eagle and ABARTA Coca-Cola.
Registration for the event will remain open until the event sells out or until 11:59 p.m. on May 21.
