2024 TEAM AWARD RECIPIENTS
Texas Rangers Player of the Year: Corey Seager
This is the second straight season in which Seager has been selected as the Rangers Player of the Year (also 2023), making him the first player to receive the honor in back-to-back campaigns since Adri¨¢n Beltr¨¦ did so in three consecutive seasons from 2012-14. The 30-year-old Seager earned his fifth career All-Star selection this season after batting .278/.353/.512/.864 with 30 home runs, 21 doubles, and 74 RBI over 123 games in an injury-truncated campaign that still saw him lead the club in homers, slugging pct., and OPS. Despite missing most of the season¡¯s final month, he still finished the year ranked among American League qualifiers in slugging pct. (10th), OPS (10th), on-base pct. (12th), home runs (T12th), and batting average (14th).
Texas Rangers Pitcher of the Year: Kirby Yates
The 37-year-old Hawaii native is the first reliever to earn the club¡¯s Pitcher of the Year award since Jos¨¦ Leclerc in 2018. Yates produced one of the most prolific relief campaigns in club history after signing a one-year free agent contract with Texas on December 5, 2023, going 7-2 with 33 saves and a 1.17 ERA across 61 appearances. The right-hander posted the highest single-season save conversion rate ever by a Ranger (97.1%), while his 1.17 ERA figure was the second-lowest qualified relief mark in team history behind only Neal Cotts in 2013 (1.11). His 33 saves in 2024 ranked third in the American League and were the most by any Texas hurler since Sam Dyson in 2016. Additionally, Yates was one of three Rangers selected to the A.L. roster for the 2024 MLB All-Star Game hosted at Globe Life Field (also Corey Seager, Marcus Semien).
Texas Rangers Rookie of the Year: Wyatt Langford
The 22-year-old Langford made Texas¡¯ Opening Day roster after being selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and slashed .253/.325/.415/.740 (126-499) with 16 home runs, 4 triples, 25 doubles, 74 RBI, and 19 stolen bases over 134 games in his rookie campaign. He was named American League Player and Rookie of the Month for September after batting .300/.386/.610/.996 with a circuit-best 8 home runs and 20 RBI over 26 games, becoming the first Ranger ever to earn both honors in the same month. Langford produced a walk-off grand slam (September 3rd vs. New York-AL), cycle (June 30 at Baltimore), and inside-the-park home run (April 28 vs. Cincinnati) in 2024, placing him alongside Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson in 1948 as the only players in Major League history to accomplish each of those feats in one season.
The Harold McKinney Good Guy Award: Travis Jankowski
In his second season with the Rangers, Jankowski spent the entire campaign on the club¡¯s active roster and was routinely deployed as an outfield defense and baserunning specialist. The 10-year Major League veteran has gone 30-for-32 (93.8%) in steal attempts during his Texas tenure (2023-24), the highest stolen base success rate in club history (min. 15 attempts).
The Richard Durrett Hardest Working Player Award: Josh Smith
The 27-year-old utilityman produced career highs in all four slash categories (.258/.337/.394/.731), home runs (13), RBI (62), walks (46), runs (67), hits (135), and doubles (30) in 2024. He appeared in a career-high 149 games, making a total of 135 starts at third base (76), shortstop (41), left field (4), and right field (one). Smith reached base via hit by pitch a team-high 18 times this season (fifth-most in A.L.), one shy of matching the Rangers all-time single-season record of 19 done by Robison Chirinos in 2018 and Carlos G¨®mez in 2017.
The Texas Rangers Awards Dinner is supported by 105.3 FM The FAN.
