ATLANTA, GA ¨C The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day Injured List.
Stewart, who has missed all 20 games for Minnesota with a left hamstring strain, appeared in two games on rehab assignment this week with Single-A Fort Myers, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings, with no hits allowed, no walks and five strikeouts. The 33-year-old made 16 appearances for the Twins last season, allowing nine runs on 15 hits in 15.2 innings pitched, with eight walks and 20 strikeouts before missing nearly the entire second half with a right shoulder injury. Since joining the Twins in 2023, the Normal, Illinois native has gone 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA (43.1 IP, 11 ER), one save, 15 holds, 19 walks, 59 strikeouts, a .218 opponent batting average, a 12.3 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings pitched ratio and just three home runs allowed in 44 relief appearances.
To make room for Stewart on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Kody Funderburk to Triple-A St. Paul. Funderburk, who was recalled from St. Paul on April 12, appeared in two games for the Twins, allowing two runs on three hits in 4.0 innings pitched, with one walk and five strikeouts.
