ATLANTA, GA ¨C The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of infielder Luke Keaschall from Triple-A St. Paul.
Keaschall has hit .261 (12-for-46) with one double, one home run, five RBI, nine walks, eight runs scored, a .379 on-base percentage and a .727 OPS in 14 games for the Saints this season. The Twins¡¯ No. 3 prospect per MLB.com and the club¡¯s reigning minor league Player of the Year, Keaschall was selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 2023 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft out of Arizona State University.
The 22-year-old has hit .297 (159-for-536) with 32 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs, 68 RBI, 90 walks, 117 runs scored, a .415 on-base percentage and an .885 OPS in 148 career minor league games. Keaschall will be in uniform for tonight¡¯s game in Atlanta, wearing uniform number 15, and is looking to make his major league debut.
To make room for Keaschall on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned utility player Mickey Gasper to St. Paul. Gasper played in 10 games for the Twins this season, going 2-for-18 with four walks and a .273 on-base percentage. The 29-year-old was acquired in a trade with Boston on December 24, 2024, in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jovani Mor¨¢n.
To make room for Keaschall on the 40-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Matt Canterino for release or assignment. Canterino underwent right shoulder surgery in mid-March and will not pitch in 2025.
