Emerson Christian Hancock…Graduated from Cairo (Ga.) High School in 2017…Named Player of the Year by the Thomasville Times-Enterprise after going 11-1 with a 0.75 ERA, 125 strikeouts and eight walks in 65 innings pitched as a senior as the Syrupmakers won their second regional title in school history.

2024

Finished the year 4-4 with a 4.75 ERA (32 ER, 60.2 IP) and 39 strikeouts...Four of his 12 starts were quality starts...He went 5.0+ innings in eight of his 12 starts...Earned his first Major League win in his first start of the season on April 1 vs. Cleveland...He pitched 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on four hits, one walk and one strikeout...Collected his first Major League quality start in a game vs. the Cubs on April 13...He pitched 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on four hits, no walks and four strikeouts...With Triple-A Tacoma, he had 17 starts with nine quality starts...Reached the sixth inning or later in 11 outings for the Rainiers...Made his first career Opening Day roster...Had five stints on the active roster in 2024...Was on the active roster between March 28-May 8, June 13, July 6-8, Sept. 13-22 and Sept. 28 to the end of the season...Returned to the rotation on Sept. 13 vs. Texas and made three starts in the last half-month of the season...In those games, he was 1-0 with a 4.70 ERA (eight ER, 15.1 IP) and 11 strikeouts...He did not allow more than three runs in any of those contests and the Mariners went 3-0 in those starts...Was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Month for June...Went 1-0 with a 0.84 ERA (two ER, 21.1 IP) with seven walks and 17 strikeouts in four starts with Triple-A Tacoma...He led the PCL in WHIP (0.98), OBA (.187) and ERA (0.84) during the month...After allowing two runs in the first inning of June, he did not allow another run in his last 20.1 innings in June with Tacoma...On July 21, he pitched a complete game shutout, marking the first complete game shutout pitched for Tacoma since Casey Lawrence did it in 2018...He pitched nine innings and allowed nine hits, two walks and three strikeouts...It was the only nine-inning complete game shutout in Triple-A in 2024 and only one of two in the full-season Minor Leagues this year...It marked Hancock’s first professional complete game and first shutout...In eight games started at T-Mobile Park, he held a 3.61 ERA (17 ER, 42.1 IP) with 15 walks and 26 strikeouts...He allowed three or fewer runs in seven of the eight starts and went 5.0+ innings in five of them...On June 13 vs. CWS, he set a career high in innings pitched with 7.0...He finished the game with six hits, two runs, two walks and one strikeout...In 17 starts with Triple-A Tacoma, had a 3.43 ERA (36 ER, 94.1 IP) with 37 walks and 66 strikeouts.

Had 4.50 ERA (6 ER, 12.0 IP) with three walks and six strikeouts over three starts for Seattle...Tossed 5.0 IP and allowed two hits, one run (1 ER), three walks and struck out three during his Major League debut on Aug. 9 against San Diego...Left his start on Aug. 20 after the second inning with a right shoulder strain...placed on 15-day IL on Aug. 21 and transferred to 60-day IL on Aug 22...had a 4.32 ERA (47 ER, 98.0 IP) with 38 walks and 107 strikeouts in 20 games with Double-A Arkansas.

Split the season between High-A Everett (5/4-8/8) and AA Arkansas (8/9-25)…combined to go 3-1 with a 2.62 ERA (13 ER, 44.2 IP) in 12 starts…limited opponents to a .184 (29x158) average, while walking 17 and striking out 43...was 1 of 3 Mariners prospects named to the 2021 MLB Futures Games; did not participate due to an injury...on the 7-day Injured List with right shoulder impingement syndrome, Aug. 28-Oct. 4.

2020

Entered the season as the #82 prospect (MLB.com) and #87 prospect (Baseball Prospectus) in the Majors...in 21 starts with Double-A Arkansas went 7-4 with a 3.75 ERA (41 ER, 98.1 IP) with 38 walks and 92 strikeouts...spent time on the 7-day Injured List from Aug. 2 through the remainder of the season.
