5 Reds Prospects Crack MLB Pipeline Top 100
On January 24, MLB Network aired a special to announce MLB Pipeline¡¯s Top 100 Prospects List heading into the 2025 season.
Led by 2024 #2 overall draft pick Chase Burns, five players in the Reds organization made the list, which tied for third most across the league.

Reds Ink 18 Prospects on Day One of International Signing Period
The Reds agreed to terms with 18 players during the first day of MLB¡¯s annual international signing period on Wednesday.
One of the top acquisitions was 17-year-old shortstop Liberts Aponte, who MLB Pipeline ranks No. 18 on its 2025 list of international prospects. Aponte adds to the Reds¡¯ formidable depth in the farm system at the middle infield position. He is one of nine Venezuelan players signed by the Reds from the international pool along with seven from the Dominican Republic, one from Colombia and one from Nicaragua.
Chris Buckley Named 2024 East Coast Scout of the Year
Reds Special Assistant to the General Manager Chris Buckley has been named East Coast Scout of the Year.
The Scout of the Year Award honors a lifetime of scouting excellence. He was honored at a banquet during December's winter meetings in Dallas.
Buckley is entering his 20th season in the Reds organization and his second as Special Assistant to the General Manager following five years as Vice President, Player Personnel. He was one of former general manager Wayne Krivsky¡¯s first hires in February 2006 and oversaw all aspects of scouting for the June First-Year Player Draft. Before joining the Reds, in January 2006 Buckley had a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs as special assistant to the general manager. Prior to that, he spent 17 years as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays staff in a variety of roles focused mostly on scouting, including director of scouting from 2000-¡¯03. Buckley also worked as an area scout in Florida (1989-¡¯95), national cross checker (1996-¡¯00) and special assistant to the general manager (2003-¡¯05).
