The D-backs have added some veteran speed to their system, according to their Triple-A affiliate. Utilityman Garrett Hampson has agreed to a Minor League deal with Arizona, according to a tweet from the Reno Aces on Friday. It constitutes a homecoming for Hampson, who starred at Reno High School in his youth.
Hampson, a third-round pick by the Rockies in the 2016 Draft, spent his first five Major League seasons with Colorado, before logging one season each with the Marlins and Royals. Hampson played in 113 games for Kansas City in 2024, slashing .230/.275/.300 with 16 RBIs and 7 steals in 231 at-bats. For his career, he has hit 29 home runs and has stolen 64 bases in 630 Major League games.
