Bite-handed pitcher: Scherzer has run-in with dog
Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer has often been referred to as a bulldog on the mound, but he was on the wrong end of an encounter with one of his own dogs, when it got a little too tenacious.
Scherzer was bitten on the right hand by one of his four dogs, but the ace said in a tweet that the bite was mild and "will have no effect on my rehab."
Scherzer is currently recovering from a left oblique strain and is forecast to return in July.
This news comes just two days after shortstop Francisco Lindor had to sit out Thursday¡¯s game against the Dodgers after getting his right middle finger caught in a hotel door the night before. Lindor was diagnosed with a slight fracture at the tip of the finger but returned to the team¡¯s lineup on Friday.
