MLB, Pokémon GO launch partnership for '25
The world of baseball and the world of Pokémon are coming together this season.
MLB is partnering with Pokémon GO to create a whole new ballpark experience for baseball fans who play the game.
Over the next three seasons, MLB and Niantic, the makers of Pokémon GO, will partner to make Major League ballparks a unique part of the augmented-reality mobile game, which lets players catch Pokémon in real-world locations. Pokémon GO is the world's biggest location-based mobile game.
The MLB Pokémon GO program will launch in the game early this season and run all year long. Here's what fans can look forward to.
All of the 30 MLB stadiums will be integrated into the Pokémon GO game this year. Now that Opening Day has arrived, the different MLB ballparks will begin to roll out official PokéStops and Gyms for their big league teams over the first few weeks of the season.
Each ballpark will also feature Official Routes, where baseball fans at the game will be able to follow Routes connecting important locations throughout the stadium while collecting rewards in Pokémon GO.
There will also be Pokémon GO Theme Nights at MLB games throughout the 2025 season hosted by participating teams at their ballparks.
Fans who buy tickets for a Pokémon GO Theme Night promotion will get a Pokémon GO and MLB team-branded T-shirt.
The fans in attendance at the theme nights will also get special Pokémon GO in-game content, including virtually wearable baseball caps of the home team, special Timed Research missions during the game and -- last but not least -- collectible and tradable Pikachu with baseball ballpark Location Backgrounds, which will be catchable in Raid Battles at scheduled times during the game.
