New 'MLB Tonight: A Conversation' program to air on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this Monday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET
January 15, 2021 ¨C MLB Network today announced it will air a new MLB Tonight: A Conversation program on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this Monday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The one-hour program hosted by MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds will feature a series of new interviews with distinguished guests, including St. Louis Cardinals ace pitcher Jack Flaherty, two-time World Series champion manager Cito Gaston, hip-hop legend and diehard baseball fan Chuck D, and Negro Leagues historian Larry Lester. The guests will discuss the life of Dr. King, racial injustice they have experienced, and the ongoing fight to end systemic racism throughout the program. To discuss the issues around racial injustice and inequality in society and baseball, Curtis Granderson, Torii Hunter, Theo Epstein, Derek Jeter, Cameron Maybin, Willie Randolph, Tony Reagins, CC Sabathia and Kenny Williams joined the first two MLB Tonight: A Conversation programs, which aired last year on Juneteenth and following the launch of The Players Alliance. Also part of MLB Network¡¯s studio programming on Monday, MLB Network will recap the virtual MLB-USA Baseball ¡°DREAM Series,¡± which ends on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Under normal conditions, the DREAM Series (www.mlb.com/dream-series) is a showcase event focused on the dynamics of pitching and catching for a diverse group of high school elite athletes, predominantly African-Americans, from across the country during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. This year¡¯s event was comprised of virtual conversations featuring Devin Williams, Jason Heyward, Marcus Stroman, Touki Toussaint, CC Sabathia, Ron Washington, Jerry Manuel, Mike Scioscia, LaTroy Hawkins and more.
