The Athletics Support Las Vegas Teachers and Schools with Donations to Public Education Foundation and Communities in Schools of Southern Nevada
LAS VEGAS ¨C August 15, 2024
With students back in school in Clark County, the Athletics are proud to support educators, students, and schools across Las Vegas with donations to the Public Education Foundation (PEF) and Communities in Schools of Southern Nevada (CIS).
The A¡¯s provided a $30,000 donation to PEF to fund its Teacher Superstore program, which helps teachers buy school supplies at reduced prices and serves as a vital resource that empowers educators to create engaging learning environments. Through the A¡¯s donation to PEF¡¯s Teacher Superstore, 50 teachers from Title 1 schools within the Clark County School District will be invited to shop for up to $500 worth of much-needed school supplies at no cost at the PEF Teacher Superstore. In addition to providing supplies for more than 1,500 students, this support for the PEF Teacher Superstore allows teachers to receive up to $500 worth of supplies for just $26 and provide the tools their students need to participate in learning in the classroom and do their homework.
¡°We are incredibly grateful to the A¡¯s for their continued support of our local educators and the PEF Teacher Superstore. This generous contribution helps alleviate the financial burden many teachers face when purchasing supplies for their classrooms and students,¡± said Peter Guzman, Chairman of the Board of the Public Education Foundation.
Additionally, the team contributed $10,000 to CIS to sponsor resource rooms at Gene Ward Elementary School and Ruby S. Thomas Elementary School. The donation allows for the resource rooms at Ward ES and Thomas ES to be fully stocked for the entire 2024-2025 school year.
¡°We are grateful to the A¡¯s for funding two resource rooms, ensuring that students have access to the educational materials and basic needs they need to succeed. The A¡¯s dedication to making a positive impact in the community and their commitment to education are truly commendable,¡± said Debbie Palacios, executive director, CIS of Southern Nevada.
¡°We are excited to continue our support for PEF and CIS, two organizations dedicated to enhancing the lives of teachers and students,¡± said A¡¯s President Dave Kaval. ¡°We look forward to building lasting, meaningful connections within the Southern Nevada community.¡±
To further celebrate and prepare for the start of the new school year, Stomper, the loveable elephant and official A¡¯s mascot, visited the PEF Teacher Superstore and the resource room at Ward ES today.
