2007

Opened the season at Triple-A Omaha, marking his 1st time since the start of the 2002 season he did not break camp as the Royals starting shortstop...Recalled from Omaha on May 14...was hitting .303 (37-for-122) at the time of his recall, with 5 doubles, 1 home run, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 30 games...appeared at second base, third base and shortstop, committing 5 errors...Appeared in 9 games with the Royals, hitting .091 (1-for-11) with an RBI, hit by pitch and 4 strikeouts...Was designated for assignment on June 6 and outrighted to Omaha on June 8.

Was acquired by the Royals with Roberto Hernandez and A.J. Hinch in a 3-team deal involving Johnny Damon on Jan. 8...Combined to hit .304 (153-for-503) with 38 doubles, 8 triples and 14 home runs in minor league stints at Wilmington (A) and Wichita (AA)...Ranked 3rd among the organization's minor leaguers in batting average with a .304 mark...also ranked 4th in stolen bases with 25...Was recalled from Wichita (AA) on Sept. 8 and made his Major League debut on Sept. 18 at Cleveland... entered the game in the 7th inning to play shortstop and went 0-for-1...Recorded his 1st Major League hit in his 1st career start on Sept. 25 vs. Detroit's Jose Lima...went 3-for-5 the next night with a run scored and a 2-run single in an 8-6 win over the Tigers...Named to the 2001 Arizona Fall League Top-Prospect Team...hit .258 in 24 games with 3 home runs and 12 RBI.

Received an honorable mention selection on the 2000 California League All-Star team and was named the 6th-best prospect in the A's organization following the season by Baseball America...Hit .290 with 2 home runs, 42 runs and 24 RBI in 46 games for the A's rookie team in the Arizona League in 1999...also recorded 11 doubles and stole 11 bases...Named to the Arizona Rookie League All-Star team following the season.
