Luke Scott #30

An avid hunter, Luke and his brother, Noah, made several trips this offseason all over the country...he took down two bucks at Legends Ranch in Michigan from 320 and 325 yards...this offseason he received some tactical training and learned to hunt using the "sniper crawl"...on one expedition he crawled 500 yards...Luke, who is fluent in Spanish, spent over two weeks in Valencia, Venezuela, in December, the fourth straight offseason he's traveled there...this time he did street evangelism and visited the Deporte Ahora television show, where he talked about his life and career and shared the Christmas story...Scott is from De Leon Springs, Fla., located 120 miles northeast of St. Petersburg and just north of Orlando.

2012

Underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder on July 26 and appeared in only 64 games...started 57 games (43-LF, 10-1B, 4-DH)...The shoulder bothered him all season and he further aggravated it making a home-run-robbing catch in left field on June 28 vs. STL on a ball hit by Matt Holliday...placed on the DL on July 5...went on a 3-game rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie, July 19-21, and went 5-for-10 with 3 HR...returned to the Orioles on July 22, and after going 0-for-3 vs. the Angels that night, went back on the DL...3 days later had surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews...Hit 6 HR in his first 71 AB, then as the shoulder worsened hit only 3 HR the rest of the season in 138 AB...His home run on June 7 vs. OAK was his 6th career home run to land on Eutaw Street in right field at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, most in park history...Batted 96 points higher at home (.270) than on the road (.174)...in each of his 4 seasons in Baltimore he batted higher at home than on the road...combined as an Oriole to bat .291 (230- for-791, 53-HR) in 239 games at Camden Yards and .229 (181-for-789, 31-HR) in 232 games on the road...Batted .139 (5-for-36) vs. the Rays, but .308 (12-for-39) against the rest of the AL East...Hit his 2nd career pinch-hit HR, April 18 vs. MIN off Matt Capps...Drew a career-high 4 walks on May 16 at BOS, one shy of the Orioles club record...On April 29 at CWS robbed Alexei Ramirez of a home run then homered the next inning...according to Baseball Info Solutions was one of three players to homer and rob a homer in a game in 2011, along with TOR Jose Bautista (June 22 at ATL) and CIN Chris Heisey (July 15 vs. STL).
