Born on a military base in Anchorage, Alaska, Hamilton¡¯s parents were both in the Air Force...his father, Vince, served 23 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant/E-7 in the security forces...his mother, Felicia Prude, served 22 years as a logistician and retired as a Service Master Sergeant/E-8...being a military child, Hamilton moved plenty, including living for a time in Germany, eventually settling in Centerville, Ohio, as a high school sophomore...Hamilton lettered twice at Centerville HS, graduating in 2016...as a senior, was named to the First Team All-Greater Western Ohio Conference team and was named all-district after hitting .316 with 21 steals, 16 RBI, 27 runs and four triples...also pitched, serving as his team¡¯s closer, striking out 22 in 14.1 innings...Walked on at Wright State, which is also in Ohio, as a pitcher...did not make a pitching appearance in 2017 before switching to a position player in 2018...worked his way up the depth chart at Wright State, where he finished his career in 2021 as the club¡¯s everyday center fielder...hit .374 (67x179) that season with 18 doubles, 15 homers, 65 RBI and a .771 SLG in 48 games...he was named the Horizon League Player of the Year in 2021 and was named a first-team All-American by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper and a second-team All-American by Baseball America...Drafted by the Astros in the fifth round of the June 2021 draft...signed by Astros scout Scott Oberhelman...The 2024 season is his first at Major League Spring Training...is currently signed to a Minor League contract for the 2024 campaign.
2023
Began his 2023 season at Double A and played in 44 games for the Hooks before a promotion to Triple A Sugar Land in June...played in another 28 games for the Space Cowboys before an injury would sideline him in late July...played his last game of the season on July 25...combined to hit .250 (69x276) with 14 doubles, 13 homers and 50 RBI in 72 games on the season.
2022
Had a strong 2022 season in which he was named an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star as an outfielder...slashed .280/.396/.461 with 17 homers, 28 doubles, 68 RBI, 81 runs scored and 27 stolen bases across three levels in the Astros system, topping out at Double A...in what was his first full professional season, began his season at Class A Fayetteville, was promoted to Class A Asheville on May 24 and then to Corpus Christi on Aug. 6.
