Sixteen exhibition games will be played between teams comprised of each MLB organization¡¯s top prospects, creating a new touchpoint on the baseball calendar that celebrates the sport¡¯s budding talent.

The Giants¡¯ contingent will take on a team of Rangers prospects on March 15 at 5:05 p.m. PT at Scottsdale Stadium. The Spring Breakout game will be part of an in-stadium doubleheader and come after the Giants¡¯ scheduled Cactus League matchup with the Mariners at 1:05 p.m. PT.
How can I tune in?
Which position players are expected to play?
The Giants¡¯ squad will be headlined by first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who is ranked the club¡¯s No. 1 prospect by MLB Pipeline. The 20-year-old was the youngest player in big league camp this year and flashed his tremendous raw power by slugging a 450-foot, 110-mph home run in his Cactus League debut against the Rangers on Feb. 22.
Other notable position players who could see action include outfielder James Tibbs III (No. 4), the Giants¡¯ 2024 first-round Draft pick, and Jhonny Level (No. 5), a 17-year-old shortstop who batted .275 with a .910 OPS and 10 home runs over 48 games in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League last year.
Which pitching prospects are expected to play?
The Giants¡¯ top pitching prospect -- left-hander Carson Whisenhunt (No. 2) -- is expected to take the mound and have a chance to flash his 80-grade changeup, which helped him rack up 135 strikeouts over 104 2/3 innings at Triple-A Sacramento last year. San Francisco¡¯s pitching staff will also feature lefty Joe Whitman (No. 7) and right-hander Trent Harris (No. 11), who logged a 1.81 ERA over 36 relief appearances between Single-A San Jose, High-A Eugene and Double-A Richmond in 2024.
Why are certain top prospects not listed on the roster?
Players who are already on the Giants¡¯ 40-man roster, including Trevor McDonald (No. 10), Mason Black (No. 12), Wade Meckler (No. 14), Carson Seymour (No. 20) and Carson Ragsdale (No. 21), aren¡¯t expected to participate in the event. Same goes for prospects who are currently injured, such as 2022 first-round Draft pick Reggie Crawford (No. 18), who is expected to miss most of the 2025 campaign as he works his way back from left shoulder surgery.
