The Guardians today acquired RHP Cody Bolton from the Seattle Mariners for cash considerations and optioned him to AAA Columbus.
Bolton, 26, has split his professional career between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners organizations, appearing in 33 games at the Major League level over the last two seasons (2023-24) with the two clubs. Last season, he split the year between AAA Tacoma and Seattle, posting a 3.07 ERA in Triple-A (33-G, 10ER/29.1IP/34SO) and a 4.34 ERA with the Mariners (17-G, 9ER/18.2IP/17K).
The Tracy, CA native was Pittsburgh¡¯s sixth round pick out of high school in 2017 and was purchased by Seattle following the 2023 season. He started the 2025 season at AAA Tacoma prior to his April 5 DFA.
To allow room on the 40-man roster, LHP John Means has been transferred to the 60-day Injured List.
