Since 2013, the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association has spent endless time, energy and resources on growing our coaches clinic program. This program, which consists of free clinics for area youth coaches across the globe, serves to meet a simple, yet uplifting mission.
This mission is to provide youth coaches across the country with the tools to better teach their players the game of baseball; to provide them with theories of all facets of the game;?to illustrate drills to practice the game's fundamentals; and to promote baseball by ensuring youth receive quality coaching throughout their youth baseball career.
The coaches clinics, in conjunction with USA Baseball, are conducted in a classroom-style, lecture-based format. Instructors take turns speaking to local coaches on their area of expertise, touching on points such as the best skill drills or what to prioritize for different age groups.
A former Major League Baseball player's greatest reward is watching youth leave the field better players but, more importantly, better people. Our coaches clinics are set to accomplish just that by bringing the focus to the coaches of America's youth and ensuring our children are being taught by knowledgeable individuals. Baseball, its value, heritage and heroes, will always endure -- and the Alumni Association knows that only by preserving and protecting what is best about the game can we remain a valued member of the baseball family.
