Rangers non-tender RHP Nick Snyder
ARLINGTON -- The Rangers will not tender a 2023 contract to right-hander Nick Snyder, the club announced on Friday. He is now a free agent.
The Rangers tendered contracts to their other 32 eligible players, while also having seven already under contract for 2023: right-handers Jon Gray, Jos¨¦ Leclerc and Jake Odorizzi, left-hander Mart¨ªn P¨¦rez, shortstop Corey Seager, second baseman Marcus Semien and utility man Brad Miller.
Snyder made his MLB debut in 2021, allowing two earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in the last week of the season. He made just two relief appearances in '22, posting an 18.00 ERA. The 27-year-old spent the balance of the season at Triple-A Round Rock, where he had a 4.97 ERA while averaging 12.1 strikeouts per nine innings.
Snyder was selected by the Rangers in the 19th round of the 2017 MLB Draft and worked his way through the farm system. With a fastball that reaches the triple digits, there was hope he would be a valuable high-leverage bullpen arm, but Snyder struggled with his command, especially at the big league level.
Texas¡¯ 40-man roster now sits at 39.
