Team to watch
Double-A Frisco's star attraction is 19-year-old shortstop Walcott, who might rank as baseball's best prospect by the end of the season. The rotation is loaded with right-handers Santos and Stephan along with left-handers Drake and Bratt. Outfielder Osuna has an offensive profile resembling Wilyer Abreu's and a high baseball IQ, first baseman Ortiz dominated for the RoughRiders in the final six weeks of last season and shortstop Cauley offers double-plus speed and quality defense.
Players we could see in MLB in 2025
Right-hander Teodo will claim a role with the Rangers with the best stuff in the system: a sinker that parks at 97-99 mph and peaks at 102, a devastating upper-80s slider with depth and a plus upper-80s changeup with plenty of action. Infielder Foscue is blocked in Texas and went 2-for-42 (.048) in his first taste of the Majors last year. Santos and Osuna could make the climb from Double-A.
New faces
Outfielder Rodriguez received the largest bonus ($1,097,500) in the Rangers' 2025 international class and will break into pro ball in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in June. After having internal brace surgery two months before Texas drafted him in the fourth round last July, right-hander Hagaman is working his way back in extended spring training before making his pro debut in Single-A Hickory.
On the shelf
Besides Hagaman, right-handers Jose Corniell (Tommy John) and Izack Tiger (internal brace) had elbow operations last year. Corniell may return late in the season, though Tiger will miss all of 2025. So will righty Alejandro Rosario, who was coming off one of the biggest breakout years in the Minors before his elbow gave out in February and required Tommy John surgery, as well. Righty Kolton Curtis is building up his arm in extended spring training and should join High-A Hub City in mid-April.
