
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins confirmed Wednesday that franchise greats Tony Oliva and Kent Hrbek have both suffered recent strokes, but that both are recovering well.
Oliva, 86, is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame as well as the Twins Hall of Fame. He played his entire career with the club and has served it in a variety of capacities over the years, most recently including as an analyst for Twins Spanish radio broadcasts.
According to a team representative, Oliva ¡°has had a series of mini strokes over the last month. He is currently receiving medical attention but is expecting a full recovery. We hope to see him back out at Target Field in the near future.¡±
Hrbek, 64, is also a member of the franchise¡¯s Hall of Fame after a 14-year career spent entirely in Minnesota. He starred on the 1987 and 1991 World Series championship teams and still makes his home in Minnesota.
The team representative said that Hrbek ¡°suffered a minor stroke following routine knee surgery a few weeks ago. He is recovering at home and expects to be back at Target Field soon.¡±
