Full name is Jonathon David Berti (Birdie)...Attended Bowling Green University and set Falcons single-season records with a .423 batting average, 93 hits and tied the single-season record with six triples...His 17 career triples were also a school record...Was inducted into the BGSU Hall of Fame in October of 2022...His father, Thomas, played for the Detroit Mercy and spent two years in the Detroit Tigers organization...Is married to his wife, Jill...Played ice hockey up until his senior year of high school.

2020

Jonathon David Berti (birdie) played in 39 games for Miami in 2020. Hit .258 with two home runs and 14 RBI... Became the first Marlins player in club history to steal three bases in an inning when he stole second, third and home in one trip around the bases on Aug. 25 against the New York Mets at Citi Field. 

2019

Jonathon David Berti (birdie), opened the 2019 season with Triple-A New Orleans before having his contract selected on April 20. From July 31 to the end of the season, he ranked third in the Majors in steals (16). Only Dee Gordon (28 in 2017; 25 in 2015; 24 in 2016) and Jose Reyes (20 in 2012) had more stolen bases after the All-Star Break in Club history...Recorded his first career MLB home run off of Cole Hamels on May 6 at the Cubs...He hit the first of three leadoff homers on May 17 vs. the Mets, tied for the fourth-most in a singleseason in Club history (Hanley Ramirez holds top-three spots)...Scored 52 runs in 73 games, just the fourth rookie since 1900 to finish season with 50-or-more runs in 73 games or less. - Elias Sports Bureau...On September 24 at the Mets, stole a career-high four bases, tying a single-game Club record... Missed 62 games due to a left oblique strain and returned on July 31 vs. Minnesota. He batted .370 (17x46) in his first 12 games back.

2018

Opened year at Triple-A Buffalo in Toronto's system...Appeared in just four games (2x8) before trade to Cleveland in exchange for cash... Assigned to Double-A Columbus on April 21 and went 13x60 (.217) in 25 games before being traded back to Toronto and assigned to Double-A New Hampshire on June 8...Hit .314 (87x277) over 72 games for Fisher Cats with 13 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs, and 42 RBI (.897 OPS) while stealing 21 bases in 30 attempts...Had season-long 10-game hitting streak from August 22-30, batting .452 (19x42) with three doubles, four triples, two homers, and eight RBI...Hit for the cycle on August 28 (4x5), becoming just second player to do so in team history. Teammate Jonathan Davis had become the first on June 26...Batted 6x23 (.261) in the Eastern League playoffs, with a double and six RBI in six games...In Game 3 of Eastern League Championship Series on September 14, led team with three hits (3x4), and had two runs scored, two RBI, and a stolen base in 8-5 win that clinched three-game sweep of Akron...Had his contract selected on Sept. 26 and made his MLB debut that night against Houston.
