??? ???? ???? ?Building 5
Building 5, is a two-story, nearly 15,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose building that opened in early Fall 2024. It includes four indoor batting cages, multiple meeting rooms, flexible office space, hydration room and Campy¡¯s Bullpen ¨C a concessions stand with unique menu offerings and outdoor seating.
Significance of Number 5
¡°Building 5¡± is in recognition of the number Jackie wore in 1945 with the Kansas City Monarchs during his stint in the Negro Leagues. As a member of the Monarchs, Jackie hit .387 with five home runs and 13 stolen bases. He also appeared in the 1945 East-West All-Star Game.
Jackie caught the eye of Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey who was actively scouting the Negro Leagues for the right player to break Brooklyn¡¯s color barrier. That player was Jackie Robinson. The rest, as they say, is history.
