Red Sox to Provide Free Admission to Museum of African American History in Boston During School Vacation Week
BOSTON, MA ¨C In recognition of Black History Month, the Red Sox Foundation will partner with the Museum of African American History in Boston to provide free admission and tours for all visitors from February 21-23, coinciding with school vacation week. The free admission is extended to all visitors of the museum, including self-guided tours and educational group tours. Additional information about current museum exhibits and hours can be found by visiting maah.org.
During Black History Month, each tour will honor the legacy and impact of black players, coaches and front office employees that have worked for the Boston Red Sox. Tours are available Monday through Sunday, 10 a.m. ¨C 5 p.m. (last tour departing at 5 p.m.). Additional details on Fenway Park Tours can be found by visiting redsox.com/tours.
Additional Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation Black History Month activation will include an interactive Red Sox Career Panel this afternoon for 8th through 12th grade students who are part of the Red Sox Scholars program, a scholarship and academic support program for Boston Public Schools students run by the Foundation. The panel will be hosted by the Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management¡¯s Black Employee Resource Group. The panelists will share their journey to a career with the Red Sox and field questions from Red Sox Scholars.
The club kicked off Black History Month on Friday, January 31 with a visit to students at Joseph Plouffe Academy in Brockton for the 22nd annual Jackie Robinson Celebration of Life that included Red Sox alumni Chico Walker, Mike Cameron, and World Series Champion Jackie Bradley, Jr.
