Three Astros named Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists
Winners will be announced on November 3
HOUSTON, TX - Alex Bregman (third base), Mauricio Dub車n (utility) and Jake Meyers (center field) have each been named finalists for the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards at their respective positions.
Rawlings announced three finalists for each position from the American and National Leagues. The winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. CT. on Sunday, Nov. 3 on ESPN.
Bregman, who is a Gold Glove Award finalist for the fourth time in his career, put together another outstanding campaign at the hot corner. Bregman led AL third basemen in games (142), fielding percentage (.972), assists (242), total chances (355) and putouts (103). He also ranked tied for first in outs above average (6), tied for second in defensive runs saved (6) and third in zone rating (.799). Bregman would become the second third baseman to win a Gold Glove in Astros history, joining Doug Rader, who won five (1970-74).
Dub車n is seeking his second consecutive Gold Glove Award at the utility spot. The 30-year-old shined as one of the most versatile defenders in the Majors. He made starts at left field (44), center field (18), second base (13), right field (11), third base (9), first base (9) and shortstop (3). Dub車n became the first player in Astros franchise history to start at seven different positions in a single season. Last season, Dub車n was the first player in Astros history to win a Gold Glove Award at the utility spot, which was added as a Gold Glove Award position in 2022.
Meyers, a Gold Glove Award finalist for the first time in his career, had a remarkable season in center field. Meyers led AL center fielders in fielding percentage (.997) and zone rating (.961). Among AL center fielders, he also ranked second in outs above average (14), second in defensive runs saved (6), third in total chances (352), third in putouts (349), third in innings (1144.0) and fourth in games started (126). Meyers would become the fourth outfielder in Astros history to win a Gold Glove Award, joining Kyle Tucker (2022), Michael Bourn (2009-10) and C谷sar Cede?o (1972-76).
