Finished the season with the Devil Rays at .261 with 22 HR and 92 RBI...avg. and home runs were his lowest since 2001 and his RBI total his lowest since 2002...Started 148 games (95-RF, 33-DH, 18-1B, 2-3B), the fewest of his three full seasons...Ten of his 22 HR were either three-run shots or grand slams...only one of his 22 came in the 7th inning or later...His home run April 18 at Yankee Stadium (off Jaret Wright) was the 100th of his career passing Fred McGriff for most in club history...Had 14 home runs after the break, tying Jonny Gomes for most on the club...Also had 44 RBI after the break, 2nd to Jorge Cantu's 61...Hit 8 home runs in July tying the club record for most HR in that month by a Ray (also Huff-2004, G.Williams-2000)...also recorded 25 RBI, 2nd most in the AL in July (Gary Sheffield-26)...Belted two grand slams in 5 games (July 22 and 26), the first slams of his career: July 22 vs. BAL (Bruce Chen) and July 26 vs. BOS (Chad Bradford)...those two home runs were part of a stretch which he finished the season 3-for-5 with the bases loaded following a 0-for-17 skid that dated back to 2003...Was named the AL Player of the Week for July 25-31, the only Ray to win the award in 2005...batted .409 (9-22) with 2-HR, 10-RBI, 18-TB, 6-R and an .818 SLG pct. hitting safely in all six starts...Was the first career weekly award for Huff, and the 8th Ray to win the award...After a .320 July (32-100) batted .244 (49-201) the rest of the season...Hit .271 in April (23-85)...entered season a career .229 hitter in April, his worst month...Hit just 2 home runs in April, one in May and 2 in June...only once since he began playing regularly in 2002 has he hit as few as 2 in one month (June 2003 when he hit one)...Endured a 32-game, 114-AB homerless, stretch from April 19-May 27, the 2nd longest of his career (37G/137AB in 2001)...Season's best spurt was a 19-game stretch from July 15-Aug. 5 in which he batted .342 (26-76) with 7 HR and 23 RBI upping his avg. from .252 to .270... Gave the Rays the 4-3 "walk-off" win July 25 vs. the Red Sox with a 10th-inning double off Curt Schilling...was his first career walk-off RBI...His 13 intentional walks were 3rd in the AL behind Vlad Guerrero (26) and Ichiro (23).

Led the Rays in batting (.297), home runs (29) and RBI (104) for the second straight season...Became just the 2nd Ray to have two 100-RBI seasons...Joined Fred McGriff (1999 and 2000)...Made club-high 155 starts, tied with Julio Lugo for the club lead: 3B-85, DH-32, 1B-30, LF-7, RF-1...His apps in LF were the first of his career...Played a total of 87 games at third base, the most he's ever played there...For the third straight year his main position was a different position...In 2002 it was 1B (45 games), in 2003 it was the OF (102 games)... Missed 3 games Aug.24-26 with the back injury that ended his consecutive games streak at 398 (since he joined the Rays from AAA Durham on May 28, 2002)...was the longest in club history and the 2nd-longest streak in the majors to Miguel Tejada who has played in 700+...Also missed a game at New York on September 6 when he was unable to leave his house due to the floods from Hurricane Frances...Was unable to make the team flight and joined the team in New York the next day...Was batting .186 (HR-3, RBI-9) in 28 games thru May 8, but batted .320 (159-498) the rest of the season in 129 games with 26 home runs and 95 RBI...Had a 15-game hitting streak May 22-June 8, longest on club this season...Batted .393 (24-61) over the streak...Homered off both of the AL's 20-game winners Minnesota's Johan Santana and Boston's Curt Schilling in their home parks and both home runs were game-winners...His 3-run home run off Santana in the 6th inning on June 3 wiped out a Twins 2-1 lead and propelled Tampa Bay to a 5-4 win and his 2-run homer off Schilling in the 5th broke a 1-1 tie in the Rays' 8-3 win on Aug. 9...Hit safely in a club record eight straight plate appearances (1B-6, 2B-1, HR-1), Sep 22-24...Matched the longest such streak in the majors in 2004 along with Ichiro and SF's Deivi Cruz...Had his string snapped on Sep 24 on a diving catch by Toronto's Reed Johnson in leftcenter field...Batted over .300 vs. left-handed pitching for the 3rd straight season: 2004 (.304)...2003 (.318)...2002 (.307)...Batted .323 (20-62) with runners in scoring position and two outs...Batted .315 (148-471) when he wasn't DH'ing...Batted only .236 (30-127) as a DH...Batted .323 (43-133, RBI-25) during the Rays' 26-7 run, May 20-June 26...Finished Aug. with a .385 avg. In 2003, had what stands as the best offensive season in club history...Set franchise records for RBI (107), batting average (.311) and tied the mark for home runs with 34 (tied Jose Canseco's total in 1999)... Also set club records for hits (198), doubles (47), extra base hits (84), total bases (353), runs (91), intentional walks (17) and slugging (.555)...He and Toronto's Vernon Wells were the only 2 players in the AL's top 10 in all 3 triple crown categories and Gary Sheffield and Albert Pujols were the only two in the NL...Huff was 9th in the AL in batting and home runs and tied for 8th in RBI...Finished 4th in the majors with 84 extra base hits, 21 more than any Rays player has ever had...Only Pujols (95), Todd Helton (87) and Wells (87) had more...Was also 3rd in the AL in doubles, 4th in total bases, tied with Nomar Garciaparra and Alfonso Soriano for 5th in hits and 7th in slugging... Only Manny Ramirez (28) and Carlos Delgado (23) had more intentional walks than Huff (17) in the AL...Also reached base 259 times, 6th most in the AL...Only 11 players in ML history (5 in the AL) matched Huff's numbers for hits (198), doubles (47), home runs (34) and RBI (107)...That list is Chuck Klein (1930, 1932), Babe Herman (1930), Rogers Hornsby (1929), Albert Pujols (2003), Lou Gehrig (1927), Todd Helton (2000), Alex Rodriguez (1996), Don Mattingly (1985), Frank Robinson (1962), Albert Belle (1998) and Hank Greenberg (1937)...Made 102 starts in right field, his first games in the outfield since his junior year at the University of Miami... His 6 errors tied for most among AL rightfielders (tied with Anaheim's Tim Salmon)...On Sept. 6 vs. Oakland, became just the 3rd Devil Ray to steal home, but the first that didn't involve a double steal.
2002
In 2002, he did not join the Rays until the 49th game of the season and ended up 9 plate appearances shy of qualifying with the AL's 7th best average at .313...Would have set the club record for highest average in a season...Became the first player since Detroit's Tony Clark in 1996 to lead his team in home runs after starting the season in the minor leagues...Only 4 others in the AL matched his numbers in home runs (23) and batting average (.313): Manny Ramirez, Mike Sweeney, Magglio Ordonez and Jason Giambi...Had 97 hits from July 19 through the remainder of the season, tops in the major leagues...His 103 hits after the All-Star Break tied Bernie Williams for most in the majors...Had the 2nd longest hitting streak in club history - 17 games -that ended Sept. 11 against Pedro Martinez...Set the club record for hits in a month (44) in August, breaking Randy Winn's mark of 42 set in June...ranked 2nd in the AL to NYY Bernie Williams (47).
2001
As a rookie in 2001, he started 108 games: 71 at 3B, 20 at DH and 17 at 1B...Led the Rays with 20 errors (tops among AL rookies)... Also ranked T-3rd among AL rookies with 34 extra-base hits.
