Played in 38 games with the D'Backs over four separate stints ... was first recalled on 5/8 but played in just two games ... was recalled a second time on 6/11 and reported to Yankee Stadium, where he went 5-6 in the final two games of the series ... was 2-2 with two runs scored on 6/11 and 3-4 with two doubles on 6/12 ... was optioned to Tucson again on 6/26 but returned on 7/1 after Erubiel Durazo was injured ... returned to Tucson after the All-Star Break but was recalled for the final time on 8/21.

Was recalled from Class AAA Tucson on 7/23 ... collected his first major-league hit with a single off the Mets Donne Wall on 8/3 ... was optioned back to Tucson on 8/6.

Was named to the Texas League All-Star Team at Class AA El Paso ... ranked among the TL leaders in strikeout ratio (2nd, 10.23), hits (4th, 157), at-bats (522) and average (10th, .301) ... hit .429 (9-21) in the postseason series against Round Rock.

1999

Batted .307 with a career-high 64 RBI in his first full season at Class A High Desert ... shared the shortstop position on the California League postseason All-Star Team ... his 17 sacrifice bunts led the CL and ranked fifth in the minor leagues.
