ALEX LANGE OF THE DETROIT TIGERS NAMED THE AMERICAN LEAGUE RELIEVER OF THE MONTH FOR MAY
Closer Camilo Doval of the San Francisco Giants has been voted the National League Reliever of the Month for May, and closer Alex Lange of the Detroit Tigers has been voted the American League Reliever of the Month for April.
Doval earned his second career Reliever of the Month Award, previously winning for September 2021. Doval is one of two Giants relievers to win the award since its inception in 2005, joining Jake McGee (July 2021). Lange picked up his first career Reliever of the Month Award and becomes just the second Tigers reliever ever to win the honor, joining Shane Greene (April 2019).

- The 25-year-old right-hander appeared in 14 games for the Giants and compiled a 1.32 ERA across 13.2 innings pitched while converting each of his 11 save opportunities, which paced
the Majors during the month of May. - His 11 saves during the month tied for the third-most by a Giants pitcher in a single month, and were the most since Brian Wilson also had 11 in September/October 2010. Only Robb Nen had
more saves in a single month in franchise history, compiling 14 saves in July 2000 and 13 saves in June 2001. - The Yamasa, Dominican Republic native enters play today with a NL-leading 14 saves on the season, which is tied for second in the Majors with Baltimore¡¯s F¨¦lix Bautista behind only Cleveland¡¯s Emmanuel Clase (17).
- Doval made seven consecutive scoreless appearances without allowing a hit to open the month, working 6.2 innings with three walks and 10 strikeouts in that span.
- Fanned multiple batters in eight of his 14 appearances during the month, including three strikeouts in two of his final three games in May.
- Enters play today having struck out 38 hitters across 24.2 innings of work, averaging 13.86 strikeouts per nine innings.

- The 27-year-old right-hander went 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA in 10 appearances for Detroit while converting each of his seven save opportunities. In 10.2 innings, he allowed one run on three hits
with six walks and 17 strikeouts. - The LSU product did not allow a run in nine of his 10 appearances while posting multiple strikeouts in seven of his 10 games.
- Lange, the 30th overall selection in the 2017 MLB Draft (by the Chicago Cubs), opened his award-winning month with saves on three consecutive days on May 3rd-4th vs. New York (NL) and on May 5th at St. Louis, striking out the side for his sixth save of the season.
- Earned his second win of the season with 2.0 hitless innings in an 8-5, 10-inning victory at Kansas City on May 22nd. Permitted one walk and struck out two in the outing.
- Prior to his appearance on May 24th, Lange had not surrendered a run in 16 appearances, marking the longest scoreless appearance streak of his career and the third-longest of any pitcher this season. He allowed just five hits and seven walks with 27 strikeouts over 16.2 innings during the streak.
- Picked up his second win of the month and third of the season on May 28th with a perfect inning, including two strikeouts, in a 6-5, 10-inning victory over the visiting Chicago White Sox.
- Enters play today having not allowed a run in 20 of his 23 appearances on the season and his 10 saves are eighth-most in the AL.
