Rest of A's-Mariners series postponed
The A¡¯s and MLB announced Tuesday that Oakland's three-game series against the Mariners, that was scheduled to begin Tuesday night in Seattle, has been postponed. While there were no other positive COVID-19 tests among A¡¯s personnel Sunday or Monday following an initial positive test on Saturday night, the decision to postpone the series was made out of an abundance of caution while further testing was administered.?
The two clubs will make up two of their games with a Sept. 14 doubleheader in Seattle on what had been an off-day for both teams. The third game will be made up as a doubleheader in Oakland on Sept. 26 during the final three-game series of the season on Sept. 25-27.
Tests were administered after a member of the A¡¯s organization tested positive during Oakland¡¯s series against the Astros last week. The positive test result for the individual came on Saturday night following a doubleheader at Minute Paid Park, and Sunday¡¯s series finale against the Astros was postponed. All members of the A¡¯s traveling party remained at the team hotel in Houston to await results on both rounds of testing.
All members of the A¡¯s traveling party who have not been identified as close contacts will be traveling back to Oakland from Houston on Tuesday.
With their last four scheduled games now postponed, the A¡¯s hope to get back on the field Friday at the Oakland Coliseum for the scheduled start of a three-game series against the Padres. Major League Baseball will continue to provide updates as necessary.
