Team to watch
Four of the Mets¡¯ top six prospects will open at Double-A, making Binghamton a must-follow club in the early weeks of the season. Williams brings Top 100 heft with his above-average hit and plus run tools, and he returns to the Rumble Ponies after playing only 22 games for them last year due to a right wrist injury. Clifford will look to build on his 98-game Double-A sample from last year, and his power could really bloom in his age-21 season. McLean (now a full-time pitcher) and Tong are potential future Top 100 candidates from the Binghamton rotation, and don¡¯t be shocked if Morabito ranks among Double-A¡¯s steals leaders for as long as he¡¯s there.

Players we could see in MLB in 2025
Sproat is an obvious candidate given his upper-90s fastball, plus changeup, above-average slider and proximity to the bigs, and the Mets' rotation depth has already been tested. Once Sproat finds consistent results in Syracuse, he won¡¯t be far off from getting the call. Tidwell and Hamel also need to right the ship after shaky Triple-A turns in 2024 but could be useful options in Queens eventually, too. Don¡¯t rule out Williams zooming toward the bigs now that he¡¯s fully recovered from last year¡¯s wrist problems. He could be an interesting option in the middle infield or center down the stretch. Finally, Gilbert and Mauricio are former Top 100 prospects with aims to see The Show once healthy. More on them below.
New Faces
Santucci (second round) and Dohm (third round) did not pitch in official Minor League games after being selected in last year¡¯s Draft. They will begin their first full seasons with High-A Brooklyn and Single-A St. Lucie, respectively. All other ranked 2024 picks saw action in the lower levels.
On the shelf
Neither Mauricio (ACL) nor Gilbert (hamstring) appeared in Grapefruit League games this spring as they continued to get built up from injuries that kept them out for much (or all, in Mauricio¡¯s case) of the 2024 season. Currently listed on Syracuse¡¯s injured list, Gilbert is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Friday.
