Scott Alain Alexander…was originally signed by Royals scouts Rick Schroeder and Dan Ontiveros…graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa in 2007…was named the North Bay League’s Player of the Year as a senior…attended Pepperdine University where he earned West Coast Conference All-Freshman team honors in 2008…transferred to Sonoma State after two years…his older brother Stuart pitched in the Marlins organization from 2004-09 and his younger brother Jason pitched in the majors with the Brewers in 2022.

2023

Signed with the Giants as a minor league free agent on May 3...Joined SF’s minor league system in July and appeared in 13 games between the ACL Giants Black, San Jose (A) and Sacramento (AAA)…went 3-0 with a 0.66 ERA (1er, 13.2ip), 13 strikeouts and a .174 opp. average....Had his contract selected from Triple-A Sacramento Aug. 26...Appeared in 17 games with the Giants, allowing two runs on 12 hits in 17.1 innings (1.04 ERA)…SF was 11-6 in his outings...Also served as an opener for SF, throwing 4.1-scoreless innings with three hits (.176 avg) in four starts…Opened SF’s final two home games on Oct. 1-2 vs. Arizona...became the first Giants pitcher to start back-to-back games since RHP Bob Shaw on July 24 and 25, 1965 vs. Milwaukee.....Limited lefties to just three hits in 28 at-bats (.107) with eight strikeouts.

2020

In his third season with the Dodgers, appeared in 13 games, going 2-0 with a 2.92 ERA…did not allow an earned run in 10 of 13 outings Limited opposing hitters to a .214 batting average, including a .056 mark (1-for-18) against lefties… his only hit allowed to a left-handed batter was a home run by the Angels’ Brian Goodwin on Aug. 16 in Anaheim...optioned to the Alternate Site on Sept. 1, and did not appear on the Dodgers’ Postseason roster.

2019

Was limited to only 28 games after landing on the 10-Day IL with left forearm inflammation on June 11 and later transferred to the 60-Day IL on August 2 ... Had season-ending surgery on September 12 to repair nerve issues in his left hand ... Posted a 3-2 record with a 3.63 ERA (7 ER/17.1 IP) and a 1.38 WHIP, limiting hitters to a .250 batting average...started the season strong, going 1-0 with a 0.96 ERA (1 ER/9.1 IP) in his first 13 games, striking out eight batters against two walks and recording a 79.2 groundball percentage ... limited right-handed opponents to a .143 batting average, compared to a .364 average against lefties...in 14 games at Dodger Stadium, he went 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA (2 ER/7.2 IP) and a 1.04 WHIP… in 14 road games, he went 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA (5 ER/9.2 IP) and a 1.66 WHIP.

2018

In his first season with the Dodgers, went 2-1 with three saves and posted a 3.68 ER A (27 ER /66.0 IP), while limiting hitters to a .239 average in 73 games (one start)…struck out 56 batters against 27 walks…led the team in relief appearances and tied for 11th in the National League ... Induced 15 double plays over 64.2 innings of relief, which was the second most in the Majors among relievers, while topping MLB qualifying relievers by forcing 2.09 opponents' grounding into double plays per nine innings ... Posted the third best ground ball percentage (71.2%) in the big leagues, trailing just Zack Britton (72.1%) and Brad Ziegler (71.6%)…since making his ML debut in 2015, he ranks second among big league relievers in ground ball percentage (72.2%) behind only Zack Britton's 77.1% ... Limited left-handed hitters to a .172 average, compared to a .288 mark against righties ... Made his first career big league start in his 100th career appearance June 1 at Colorado ... Appeared in the Postseason for the first time in his career, making the Dodgers' postseason roster for the NLDS and World Series…allowed two runs in 2.1 innings in four relief Postseason appearances

Spent majority of the season in the big leagues with the Royals, setting career-highs in wins (5), saves (4), games (58), innings (69.0) and strikeouts (59), while posting a career-low 2.48 ERA (19 ER/69.0 IP)...Posted the second highest ground ball percentage among Major League relievers (73.3%), also ranked among American League relievers in opponents grounded into double plays (13, 2nd), grounded into double play percentage (22.4%, 3rd) and ERA (12th)...ranked among Major League rookie relievers in ERA (2nd), saves (3rd) and wins (T-4th)...Limited batters to a .215 average with runners in scoring position...Inherited 54 runners, which tied for fourth most in the big leagues and the most among ML rookies, while allowing just 12 to score (22.2%, T-13th, AL)...allowed just three homers over 69.0 innings, posting 0.39 home runs per nine innings (T-8th, ML)...Recorded his first big league win on July 2 vs. Minnesota with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief...also earned his first career save on Aug. 22 vs. Colorado, retiring the final batter of the game on two pitches to leave the bases loaded...Placed on the 10-day disabled list from May 8-June 7 with a right hamstring strain.

2016

Spent the majority of 2016 with Omaha (AAA), going 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA (10 ER in 30.0 IP) in 22 appearances with the Storm Chasers...Had two stints with the Royals, posting a 3.32 ERA (7 ER in 19.0 IP) in 17 outings overall...Posted a 4.85 ERA (7 ER in 13.0 IP) and .294 opponents' average (15-for-51) in nine outings during his first stint in Kansas City from May 12-June 10...Matched a career high with 3.0 scoreless innings on May 15 vs. Atlanta in Kansas City's 4-2 win in 13 innings…pitched the 10th, 11th and 12th innings, retiring nine of 10 batters...Recalled again on Aug. 31…made eight scoreless appearances through the end of the season (6.0 IP), despite yielding a .360 opponents' average (9-for-25) and allowing all six of his inherited runners to score.

2015

Spent a majority of the season with Triple-A Omaha, but had his contract selected by the Royals on September 1 and pitched the final month of the year in the big leagues...Made his Major League debut on September 2 against Detroit and tossed a perfect inning...finished the season with 6.0 innings and a 4.50 ERA, striking out three and allowing three free passes in four appearances...Named the Omaha Pitcher of the Year after posting a 2.56 ERA (18 ER in 63.1 IP) with a 2-3 record in 41 appearances...With Omaha, posted a 1.65 ERA over his first 31 appearances (9 ER in 49.0 IP)...however, he was 1-3 with a 5.65 ERA (9 ER in 14.1 IP) over his final 10 outings with the Storm Chasers.

2013

Split time between Lexington (A), Wilmington (A-Advanced) and Northwest Arkansas (AA), making a career-high 24 appearances for the Naturals...also set career highs in innings pitched (75.0) and strikeouts (77) between his three stops...Tied for 11th in the Texas League with eight holds, despite making his debut at Double-A on June 15...held lefthanded hitters to a .124 batting average (11-for-89)..Recorded the second-most innings in the minor leagues without allowing a home run (75.0)...only Toronto farmhand Jeremy Gabryszwski (Vancouver) threw more homerless frames (76.2).

2012

Pitched in a combined 11 games (seven starts ) with Rookie-level Arizona Royals and Single-A Kane County, going 2-4 with a 2.52 ERA (10 ER/35.2 IP)...struck out 31 batters and limited the opposition to a .248 average.

2011

Missed the 2011 season after surgery on his left shoulder.

2010

Began his professional career with Rookie-level Idaho Falls, going 1-6 with a 5.73 ERA (35 ER/55.0 IP) and striking out 41 batters against 22 walks.
