Partnering with r.World, the Colorado Rockies introduced reusable cups throughout Club Level for a pilot during August and September of the 2024 Season. The largest pilot of its kind in Major League Baseball to date, we were able to reduce waste, while educating our fans on the importance of reuse.
Rockies Sustainability
Sustainability is of great importance to us at the Rockies. During the 2024 season, we became the first MLB team to pilot reuse at a significant scale, introducing reusable cups throughout our entire Club Level, with a capacity of 4,500 fans. Thanks to coordinated efforts from Aramark and r.World, we were able to eliminate over 37,000 single-use cups, resulting in 648 pounds of waste diverted, over 15,000 gallons of water saved and more. We are proud to be leaders in this space and strive to make the experience at Coors Field a sustainable one.
The cups are delivered to Coors Field before each homestand, where they are then used for cocktails, beer, fountain drinks and more. When they are empty, fans return them to the designated reuse bins. They are then further sorted and delivered to a dedicated reuse waste bin behind the stadium. Then, the cups are picked up and cleaned at a warehouse, where they are then ready to be used again and again. Reuse is one of the most effective ways to reduce the carbon footprint of concessions in large venues.
