Tylor J. Megill graduated from Los Alamitos High School (CA)…Was an All-Region selection as a senior and a 2014 Perfect Game second-team All-American....Attended Cypress College in 2016 and Loyola Marymount University in 2015, before pitching two years at the University of Arizona (2017 & 2018). Nicknamed “Big Drip” by Mets teammates....Threw the first 5.0 innings of MLB's first no-hitter of the 2022 season on April 29, 2022, vs. Philadelphia at Citi Field....Started his first career Opening Day on April 7, 2022, at Washington...Threw 5.0 shutout innings....His brother, Trevor, plays for the Minnesota Twins...The two attended college together at Loyola Marymount University...Tylor and Trevor both debuted in the majors in 2021...Elias notes that there have been three other pairs of brothers to make their major league debut in the same season since 2000: Scott &Tyler Heineman (2019), Joe & A.J. Jimenez (2017) and Donovan & Jhonatan Solano (2012)....Played water polo in high school....His dad, Kevin, was a rower at UCLA....His parents named him Tylor with an “OR” ending to match the ending in his brother’s name, Trevor....Was discovered by his agent when he showed up to catch for his brother Trevor, who was being scouted...The agent (then scout)asked, "Why don’t you pitch?"...Tylor said, "I’ve never pitched."...Tylor Megill was the last Mets pitcher to record a hit before MLB adopted the universal DH in 2022. Megill doubled to the gap incenter field in Atlanta on Oct. 1, 2021.

Established a career best in starts (25), innings pitched (126.1), strikeouts (105) and quality starts (six) surpassing previous highs set in 2021... On April 7, the Mets home opener vs. Miami, Megill threw 6.0 scoreless innings and allowed three hits... Megill joined Tom Seaver (April 5, 1983) as the only other pitcher in franchise history to throw 6.0 shutout innings and allow three hits or fewer in a home opener...Courtesy of Elias... Earned the win in each of his first three starts of the season...It was the 28th time in franchise history that a starting pitcher won each of their first three starts to begin the season... Allowed three runs or fewer in each of his final eight starts of the season dating back to Aug. 16, the longest such streak of his career as a starter...During that span, Megill pitched to a 3.00 ERA (15 ER/45.0 IP), the fifth-best mark in the NL (min. 45.0 IP)... On August 28 vs. Texas, Megill struck out a season-high eight batters, his most in a start since striking out nine on May 4, 2022 vs. Atlanta... In his final two starts of the season, both against Philadelphia, Megill tossed back-to-back quality starts for the second time in his career (Also: July 17-23, 2021)... In his final start of the season, Megill threw a career-high 7.1 innings surpassing his previous high of 7.0 innings on Sept. 10, 2021 vs. New York-AL.

2022

Earned his first career Opening Day start on April 7 at Washington...Entering the game, his 89.2 career innings pitched were the fewest of any Mets Opening Day starter...Became the third starter in club history to not allow a run or a walk on Opening Day (Tom Seaver in 1972, Noah Syndergaard in 2017)....Threw the first 5.0 innings and combined with four Mets relievers to throw the second no-hitter in franchise history on April 29 vs. Philadelphia...Was MLB's first no-hitter of the season....Did not give up a hit through 9.0 consecutive innings from April 29-May 4, the fifth-longest such streak by a starter in Mets history....Registered the second-longest scoreless innings streak of his career from Sept. 24, 2021-April 17, 2022 (17.1 IP)....Recorded his 100th career strikeout on Opening Day, punching out César Hernández looking in the opening frame....Had three stints on the Injured List, resulting in seven rehab outings (three starts) between Binghamton (AA) and Syracuse (AAA).

POSTSEASON: Made his first Postseason roster for the National League Wild Card Series, but did not pitch.

2021

Made his major league debut on June 23...Among pitchers to make their first 18 career starts with the Mets, Megill ranked seventh with 99 strikeouts...Posted a major league-leading 1.04 ERA in July (min. 25.0 IP)...Only two other pitchers in Mets history have had a better ERA in the month of July: Jon Matlack had a 0.86 ERA in July 1972 and Rick Aguilera had a 0.89 ERA in July 1985...Held right-handed batters to a .200 batting average, the 10th-best mark in the NL (min. 175 batters faced)...His .244 opponent OBP against righties ranked fourth in the NL behind Max Scherzer (.211), Trevor Bauer (.227) and Corbin Burnes (.232)...Tossed 7.0 innings, his longest start of the season, and racked up a season-high 10 strikeouts against New York-AL on September 10...Allowed two runs or fewer in 10 of his 18 starts.

Pitched at three levels...Columbia (A) of the South Atlantic League, St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League and Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League...Combined to strike out 92 in 71.2 innings...Made 22 appearances, 11 starts...Earned two saves.

Made his professional debut with Brooklyn (A) of the New York-Penn League...Had 36 strikeouts in 28.0 innings.
